Leaving Reed off the team is a huge mistake.
Back in Tiger and Phil's prime the USA really should have dominated the Euro's with easily the two best players and we didn't. My theory is we had a bunch of whining millionaires who are still millionaires even if they lose. Plus we had a bunch of quote un quote nice guys like Hunter Mahan and Kuchar (although I now think he is a prick) that would say all the right things and we gave it our best but came up short. The Euros on the other hand relished the underdog role and sent guys out there like Poulter and Sergio that played with emotion and they won.
Now without Reed name one guy with a fiery personality on the USA team......I can't name one either. We are back to a bunch of guys that are supposed to be better and this is a train wreck waiting to happen.
The other thing in match play type of events I want someone that can putt. It isnt about the low score always. You putt different in match play type of things versus an event where the low score is the winner. You need to make sure that 30 foot putt makes it past the hole and not try to cozy it up next to the hole for a two putt.
USA has a team full of shitty putters. Reed is 4th in putting and better than anyone on the team. Plus he is 7th in scrambling and 10th in strokes gained. How can you be the 10th best in scoring on the PGA and not make the Ryder Cup team? Reed is getting treated like John Daly (only golfer with multiple majors and never on a Ryder Cup) . Shitty putters don't all of a sudden become good under pressure.
Morikawa 178th, JT 104th, Scheffler 107th Finau 91st, Berger 60th, Koepka 66th (I think under pressure he is a very good putter just see the majors)
Schefflers is the weakest link. 33rd in scoring and 107th in putting.
