i'm in the process of getting ready for a garage sale, and taking back over the basement of my home, have LOTS of stuff to get down out of the attic for the sale, and sofas/dressers/large TV's etc...to move around inside the home. I'm thinking of going up to a local ball park, and putting a sign on my car saying i want to hire someone for manual labor help, and putting my cel phone number on it.....

what can you think of as *cons* to doing this, as this person will have access to my home, and chances are, the kids will be around when the work is being done. Any other ideas on where to go to hire someone for a half day/day..... only plan on paying $10/hr (and it will be cash, and all they can drink and eat), so i think that would leave out employment type agencies, but if i don't get this stuff DONE soon, i'm gonna SCREAM!!! LOL

BahamaMama,

I would ask my friends or family first before looking for some outside her. You could even ask a neiborhood teenager if there is one around looking for some summer cash. I would use posting a sign as a last resort, if your there already good luck with getting your basement cleaned out.

I would try your neighborhood first. See if any teenage kids are looking for a few dollars. Recently needed help and asked a few neighbors who mentioned it to their kids. 1 Teenage kid called saying he was interested and asked if it was okay if he brought 2 of his friends. In a couple of hours, they took care of the loading. I paid them and threw in a tip for the quick work.

more about the situation, although I LOVE the teenager idea, i don't live in a *neighborhood* ...i'm in a country setting, and my kids are the only ones around.

all of my *friends* and what is left of my *family* (yes, dad would come up and help in a heartbeat, but with the condition of his heart, don't really want him helping with the heavy stuff) live in IA, and my ex is in jail (or trust me, he'd be busting his butt over here.....LOL)

how 'bout this......rather then up to a *men's softball park* .....find some of the older kids *little league stuff* .... what is that called these days? want to say it was the colt or pony league when i was a kid (a couple years ago

)

would be easy if this weren't summer, and school was in session.

If u attend church, that is a great place to find help of that nature. 10 dollars an hour is premium pay for that sort of work as well. Muy generoso! I would help u if I lived up in BFE, lol. Seriously, if u don't go to church, maybe one of your friends does and could direct u to a trustworthy laborer. Shouldn't be hard paying 10 bones an hour.

Hi Mama, Hey why not try some of the colleges in your area. Many kids will still come and work for 10 bucks. Plus the school has idea who is ok and not so ok. They will help you because they should have a list ready to go. Even in summer the summer students want to make a buck. Who ever you decide on. Needs to know little about you. Or your boy friend or husband who is in the service and is coming back in a couple of weeks. You need to get this completed by then. Believe you dig what im saying. GL

who's gonna haul it back if you don't sell it?

just leave the stuff where it is and invite the people in to see it. if they buy it, make them haul it out.
