The Islamorada Sailfish tournie out of Whale Harbor 2 weeks ago...3 days, 30 boats and 406 Sails caught and released. Of course it got my fever up, headed out early Monday after the tournie in a 20 ft Center Console.

Out past the end pin of the channel :scared waves over the bow, wind was blowing 25 and I hauled ass back to the dock.

I was only one mile out in 15' water, needed to go 5 miles out....no fricking way that day!

Next Sailfish tournie up here below.

Sailfish victor to take whole purse

There?s no second or third place when it comes to the Islamorada Fishing Club?s 2009 Sailfish Tournament, set for Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 21-22. One winner will take the entire $25,000 purse.

The $25,000 cash prize is guaranteed if 18 to 25 boats register for the tournament.

An additional $1,000 will be added to the prize money for each boat registering after the first 25, up to a limit of 30 boats, so the total cash payout could reach $30,000.

The boat tournament will kick off with registration and cocktails from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21. A rules meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., to be followed by dinner.

All events will take place at the club at mile marker 82 bayside in Islamorada.

Fishing will start with lines in at 8 a.m. Thursday and end with lines out at 4 p.m. All boats must return to the dock by 5:30 p.m.

Cocktails and hors d?oeuvres are to be served 6:30-7:30 p.m., with dinner at 7:30. The awards presentation follows dinner.

The competition is an all-release boat tournament. Each boat is limited to a two-angler team.

The tournament entry fee is $2,500 per boat. Additional social tickets can be purchased at the club for $35 per person.

The tournament is the final leg of the three-tournament Florida Keys Gold Cup Sailfish Championship, which includes the Islamorada Sailfish Tournament Dec. 4-7 and the Cheeca Lodge Presidential Sailfish Tournament slated for Jan. 15-17, 2009.

The Gold Cup Championship awards are to be presented during the Jan. 22 ceremonies at the club.
