The San Diego Padres go for a rare series victory tonight when they complete a four-game set against the Colorado Rockies.

The Padres have taken two of the first three games in this series at Coors Field and look for their first series win since beating the Cubs in two of three games back on April 22-24. They are 0-14-1 in their last 15 series to be last-placed in the NL West at 23-50 overall.

Brian Lawrence (4-7, 4.52 ERA) heads to the mound for San Diego and the right-hander has pitched at least seven innings in his last five starts. He is 4-1 with a 5.82 ERA in his career against the Rockies including beating them earlier this season when he allowed two runs and five hits over six innings. Lawrence tied a season-high with eight strike-outs in that appearance

The Rockies tonight look to get back to the .500 mark for the first time since June 2. They are 36-37 overall this season to be third in the NL West and 7 1/2 games behind the Dodgers.

Left-hander Darren Oliver (3-5, 5.21 ERA) will counter for the Rockies as he looks to bounce back from his worst start for the season when he allowed seven runs over just five innings against the Twins Thursday. Prior to that outing he had been excellent at home this season in going 3-0 with a 2.87 ERA...lifetime at Coors Field he is 4-0 with a 4.12 ERA in 10 appearances including nine starts. His career record against the Padres is 3-2, 4.99 ERA.

The last four meetings have all played Under with scores of 8, 7, 12 and 8 and we expect that to continue tonight.
