Sandra Diaz-Twine is Survivor Winner Heroes vs. Villains
by Ellen Delaney/Sports interaction

On the finale of Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, it was a battle between the villains: 34-year-old Fayetteville, N.C bank teller Sandra Diaz-Twine, 27-year-old former boxer Pavarti Shallow and 37-year-old oil company owner Russell Hantz.
For Hantz, the show?s ultimate schemer, the biggest nemesis on the show for him was his own ego. Russell played an amazing game, but made the mistake of believing that the jury would award him the million-dollar grand prize because of his strategic game. What Hantz failed to recognize was that Survivor winners rarely get rewarded for how they played the game, but for how many jury members they didn?t backstab.

Hantz overestimated the jury. See, many people on the jury have this notion that the game of Survivor has to be played honestly ? and Russell failed to see that. He thought that because his game was a brilliant one, that the jury would hand him the million dollars. He didn?t realize that they are reluctant to reward a scheming player ? even though the game of Survivor tends to call for a lot of scheming. Even though Russell bragged that Sandra Diaz-Twine ?cannot beat me,? a frustrated Hantz watched as the million-dollar prize was handed over to Sandra, the woman who even burned his trademark hat.

?Does that make you best player ever?? host Jeff Probst asked Sandra after pointing out that she is the first person to win the show twice.
?It makes me the queen!? Sandra said.
?If she can win the game twice, there is a flaw in the game,? Russell told Probst.
Hantz then admitted that he thought runner-up, Pavarti Shallow, who has played Survivor a record 114 days, should have won the title. Shallow dominated the season by winning physical challenges, playing two hidden immunity idols and coordinating the blindsides of some of the best players including ?Boston? Rob Mariano.
Probst pointed out that Russell could pitch a show to Mark Burnett called ?Russell Decides Who Wins Survivor.?

What did you think? Was Sandra a coat-tail rider? Did you think Russell should have won? He did win America?s vote as player of the season, earning a cool $100K. Want to bet on reality TV?
