Hamster, looks like you may be ONLY focusing on the big races at Sar and thats probably a GOOD thing. We KNOW you can nail a Zuppa eXotic alright. :0074
This place is a pure crap shoot. Gotta believe serious, experienced, good handicappers are getting creamed at this joint.
Luckily, I avoided this place for several weeks before I decided to jump in and take a shot after getting enticed with the full fields, nice weather, and full betting pools at Saratoga. Tough to resist.
In all the races I played, I caught 3 very nice payoffs (not exactas though) and after catching the first one I thought I had a chance with this place. Problem is - almost EVERY stinkin race looks like a prime rib/lobster diner with all the champagne ya can dwink thing. At Philly, it's sooo easy to see the UNplayable races, not at this place though. Those in between races is what made my decisoin to jump in -->
the wrong decision methinks. AND, the races I won didn't appear to be any better betting opportunities than the races I lost.
I've seen (mostly just watched) too many days where questionable favorites absolutely ruled the day's races and days where absolutely CWAZY longshots ruled. This Travers fiasco took the cake. I did start to smartin up and only wheeled MY strong figure (on paper) hoss with only $2 exacta wheel ON TOP ONLY.
When somebody whose studied a million pps, seen a million hosses run, primarily N.Y. racing experience too and has had some very successful
meets in the past, gets the results I got from this race...well, it's gotta be time to "pack the bags and git the flock outa Toga". ...
Coil : the NOW hoss, with the NOW trainer, with the NOW workouts, and the now proven ability to beat the real contender's in this race. Actually ran down the top contender despite a bad start in last. (Yeah, this one was my "strong figure hoss").
Shackeflord: Clearly, has the best resume in the race and speed to spare to easily grab a good spot early and avoid traffic in this good sized field.
Raisin D'etat: Top notch breeding, connections (Castro is very hot lately), and workouts for this make this one a live long shot. Note huge improvment in last two races and 3 figure speed rating
at Saratoga in last. Had a feeling the exacta would be one of the logical contenders and a long shot (this IS Saratoga). This one was my longshot pick even though I haddem all under Coil.
See how these 3 finished?
Bye bye Toga... HELLO Rafa and college footballers.
... . . anyone?
Philly has to run, whenever they decide to start running again, for at least a week or two before ya can get serious about playing that track. But ya can play around with two dollar bets for awhile
