Big plays here but I like this game a lot. TCU hasn't played anyone but I still like their defensive numbers. It's one thing when an offense puts up big numbers vs. bad teams. Especially spread offenses. They're able to take advantage of 1 or 2 defenders and rack up numbers. When a defense plays like TCU has it shows a lot more no matter who they've played. They're not making mental mistakes, playing their roles and tackling. That sounds easy but when you're playing teams that are bad it's easy to let up mentally let thus causing missed tackles, assignments and just stupid mistakes. The fact that TCUs D can focus in those situations makes me know they'll be able to do it against OU. The games between these two are always ugly and scoring is hard to come by.
My big worry is TCUs offense. I don't trust Boykin and don't think he's a good QB. I'm playing this in the hopes that he doesn't make the big mistakes. No underneath INTs. If he's going to throw any I'm hoping they're all him taking chances down the field. I also worry because this is TCUs new spread offense first test. Like I said in the first paragraph, it's easy for a spread offense to do well vs. bad teams because they can pick on 1 or 2 bad players. They won't have that chance vs. OUs D. I think a BIG concern is OUs D line. If OU can get pressure with the down 4 and not need anymore then TCU will be in trouble. In the years I've seen OU play well against this same offense it was because their Dline put so much pressure on the QB and were allowed to drop 7 into coverage. But, as much as I don't think Boykin is a good QB I do think this is where he helps. I wouldn't want him to run much but if he can get important yards here and there with some runs then it will help flip the field and keep OU from short drives. If that happens then I expect OU to struggle.
