When are Bettman and the other stiffs who govern the NHL going to realize that the only way you are going to get the two best teams in the NHL more often than not to face each other in the Stanley Cup Finals is to obsolete the Eastern Conference/ Western Conference playoff system and implement an interconference playoff system. Teams from the Eastern Conference and Western Conference begin facing each other in the first round of the playoffs as opposed to in the Stanley Cup Finals. No offense to the Hartford Whalers errrrrr the Carolina Hurricanes, but there is no way that anyone can tell me that this team belongs on the same rink let alone in the Stanley Cup Finals against either the RED WINGS or the AVALANCHE. How on earth did a team with one of the worst attendance figures during the regular season in the NHL (team drew better attendance in Hartford), playing in the worst division in the NHL and in a state that just lost it's franchise in the NBA possibly be getting a chance to host the Stanley Cup Finals? Can you imagine what the television ratings for ABC/ESPN will be during the finals. I for one do not think the MAPLE LEAFS will go down without a fight and think they have a shot at extending this series to a game six back in Toronto. Does anyone else out there like the LEAFS as huge road dogs in Game 5? The LEAFS thrive off of having their backs up against the wall and on the verge of elimination!
My plays for SATURDAY 5/25:
AVALANCHE (-120) HUGE $$$$
MAPLE LEAFS (+140) HUGE $$$$ (Interesting, I thought the LEAFS would be a much larger dog!)
TWO TEAM PARLAY AVALANCHE/MAPLE LEAFS Huge $$$$$
