Getting this in now

TTech -33 3units

I'll have my reasons up later and might up the play. Worried line will go against me based on NM QB injury situation.

Ok for starters

Offense-Doege went 40-44 against NM last year and their dbs are mostly the same this year. The difference is Doege has a lot more options this year. I've been watching Tech since I can remember but they've never come close to having this many good WRs and this many explosive ones. The offense should put up 50+, I expect at least 30 in the first half.

The key to the cover in this game is the defense. Art Kaufman has changed things around Tech and they also have more athletes with speed playing on that side of the ball now. They've given up 1 td in their first two games and it was a on a wheel route that the LB that gave it up was struggling with all pratice week long. They are really gunning for shut outs(td wise) in these games. There's a pride in their work that hasn't been there for a long time with Tech D. They played the same kind of offense last week so this will be their 2nd full week of practice vs. the kind of attack. Add to that NMs top QB and top WR will be out or at least hurting and struggling to make the game and you have a NM team that is going to struggle to score. Those two players are their best offensive and probably best overall players on the team. If this was a deep team then it might not make a difference but they're not. Once the QB went out vs. UT they were dead in the water.

Tech's D will struggle with teams that have a power running game and teams that have a spread passing attack and several good receivers. Their D will not struggle with this offense.

They're also going into a bye weekend so they can let it hang out with the week rest ahead of them.

This could very well be a first half cover. And if you're worried about the backups coming in for Tech then don't. The back up QB Brewer has played lights out in both games so far. The WRs don't miss a beat no matter who's in the game and RBs all play no matter what.

The D has a 2 deep rotation the whole game so that won't come into play in a blow out either.

I have no doubts that Tech will be able to score against these guys but my concern is Tech's defense against an option team with an athletic QB. See Nevada game last year. A lot depends on his health but if he is able to go the NM offense could stay on the field a while. Texas had a hard time figuring the Lobo offense out in the first half last week. Not dissing your play just stating why I haven't been able to pull the trigger.

Cole I would agree with you except they played the option very well vs Texas State last week, this is their second straight week practicing vs. this kind of offense and NMs QB got hurt vs. UT last week. Their offense was never the same.

Tech will be hurt by power and size but I don't think speed to the outside will be their problem this year. They have LBs that can flat out run now.

It's hard to evaluate Techs D this year based on last year. There are new guys and more importantly a totally new defensive staff that has done a great job giving the players confidence.

But, based on Techs history vs good option attacks then I would agree with you. I just think it's a new time for Tech on D. Tommy has finally shuffled the guys around the get as much speed on the field as he can. That means they're a smaller D but very fast.

Sounds good. I will lay off NM. BTW, have a buddy who is a huge Tech fan and he can't stop talking about this year's group of receivers. Good luck on your play.
