i can see it

i can see it

the more i look at this, the more it looks like ships sailing in opposite directions....johnson has been a pro since 1990......many think montiel is the new, slightly lesser version(just slightly)of ricardo lopez......that is high praise indeed....has developed into a vicious body puncher,to go with his excellent combination punching....

i like it....

thai fighters

thai fighters

fletch i like chavez as well but the cost is going up fast. i read in a magazine yesterday that only one thai fighter in history (and i'm not even gonna attempt to spell or remember their names) has come to the states and won or defended his championship. and overall thai fighters are 1-16 when coming to the states for a championship fight. that being said the guy fighting chavez is supposed to be as good as any thai fighter ever has been, including the one that either won or defended his belt in the states. another factor that i read on the web is that arum has dusted off an old (and questionable) judge to help judge this fight. he seems to be one of arum's favorites and seems to have raised an eyebrow in some of his decisons in arum's favor in the past. add that to the fact that this is in chavez's home and it looks like the thai can't leave chavez standing before the final bell. good luck

the "suspect" judge's name is ken morita. so hope that helps to anyone that this might be a factor.

i also posted chavez

i also posted chavez

as a play in a" boxing futures" post....i got it right away at -120....

i always get uncomfortable when the odds on a fight i play get driven up.....but,the situational aspects of this fight forced me to play chavez....

this is a top rank card....bob arum promotion...

chavez is arum`s boy...he is 30 yrs old(not particularly old by boxing standards....but he may not get another shot at a title)...

this is probably the path of least resistance for chavez to get that 1st title......you don`t want to have to fight freitas,or potentially casamayor or corrales.....and fighting either steve forbes or carlos hernandez would be no walk in the park either...

so it looks like arum probably made an investment in the future....he probably had to dig deep into his pockets to get singmanasak to come to america to defend....the guy only has 3 fights outside of thailand in a 43 bout career....and one of those was a k.o. loss...

i don`t think fighting in asia, even in the lower weight classes,is comparable to fighting consistently tough competition in the states and mexico......

that said, the thai is reputed to be good...he is taller....supposedly can punch....

but i doubt if he`s floyd mayweather, chico corrales or joel casamayor good.....neither is chavez....

but chavez probably only falls a notch below the top guys....he`s a very, very tough mexican fighter that chops guys down....he gave mayweather hell for nine rounds....

this is his best shot....his last shot...fighting under his own promoter`s banner....in his hometown.....and the guy is a very good, tough fighter...

the deck is stacked in his favor....at -120,i just couldn`t pass it up...

can he lose?...sure..i know nobody that has seen singmanasak with there own eyes.....but chavez has every conceivable edge...fighting at home in front of the homies...probably his last title shot...i think i`ll get my money`s worth from him..... arum is putting his money up to try and get this title...and set up potential big money matches down the road...

after analyzing this,at those odds,i just had to take the shot....

and i`m glad fletch likes it also...

weekend fights

weekend fights

i'm with you two on the chavez fight. any thoughts on the brinkley perez fight? i like montiel the best in the weekends fights. that being said , "too sharp" is saying all the right things. he isn't talking smack and he is respecting montiel etc etc. he realizes this is that last shot he has. he says he is now much more calm and focused and credits his new wife with peace of mind. but this is all so much talk. the fact is he was a two time champ and wasn't really run after by others to fight when he was in his prime. he is still probably very dangerous as montiel has noted. he also hasn't fought as tough a fighter as montiel in years either. still like montiel as my fighter for the weekend. -450 is alot but just won't hit it as hard. if left to my own devices i would play montiel -450 chavez -130 brinkley +420 and over 10 at -110. also am leaning to beyer at -139 and possible over 9.5 at -105. however that is why i am on here to hear what the real expets feel and think. any help and opinions? thanks:)

chavez won by tko about the 115 mark of the 3rd it looked like he had razior blades in his gloves :D

took a shot with brinkley under thinking he was stonger but imo perez won the fight by 2-3 points went the whole 10 then they said the scores 2 judges had it 2 points difference and 1 judge had it 3 points like i had it but in backwoods of nv i had the score right but they gave it to brinkley , there was no way i had the under small so i thought only way to win was brinkley to stop it. he took a shot to the liver in the 5th clean and it took brinkley down and ref said low blow not bitching just facts it was above the belt by a glove, but the score was a joke not that it mattered to me either way did anyone see it and really think brinkley won by 2-3 rounds? did i miss something i never saw him throw many good shots or even score much i thout perez pushed the fight and had control of the ring the whole time. like a paul s fight when he is in pittsburgh i guess you have to ko him to get the win. and have won lots of money on ps at home for that reason:D

you o.k.?.......chavez by unanimous decision....and i agree....i gave the decision to perez....i took a flyer on brinkley because of the hometown and the fact that perez is lazy in the ring....he should be ashamed for letting brinkley be close enough to get a decision....

but,i`ll take it....great night...:D ;)

well i also just got the report yak has that it was a major blow out first fightnews had what i said about 115 in the 3rd they stopped it now they have what yak said and changed the first report so i would say the 2nd is the right one since they pulled the first one down. that seems to happen a lot the had it as breaking news then went back to check and they changed it? how can you make a mistake like that , the first one said fight was stopped due to bad cuts to the eyes at the 115 of the 3rd ? who knows but i am sure they have the winner right.

that is the tuff thing about fights unless you see them the sites are slow or wrong with results then they change them , it is always the breaking news that is wrong a lot. but i am sure he won because they have a big write up on it now.
