Niagara -3 over Iona [12.00 noon]
Purple have won 8 of last 10.They are 5-1 ats in last 6.Iona is 1-6 ats in last 7.Iona is the 2 times defending champ but it will be over this afternoon.Both teams split winning at home.Purple won by 10 at home and last week lost a heartbreaker to Iona.They took a 1 pt lead on Greene's 3 pt shot with 7 seconds left.But fouled with 2 seconds left and lost the game on the FT line.Niagara's program has been down.They are being called the "sleeper" in this tourney.With greene and Darden they have been playing solid defense and scoring.
Iona has been so inconsistent all yr.Who shows up no one knows.Other then Woffard they have no pure shooters.Wilson is a slasher but Fields is their best player.He has missed the last couple of games with a bad ankle sprain.He will try to play today. Ruland hasn't been at practice all week because of "family problems".Niagara has a better defense,better offense and about 3 more shooters then Iona.Strong play.

NC-Wilmington over JMU [not sure of the line??}JMU has a nice win last nite over mary.NC beat JMU both times this yr by 8 and 4.Lyr also both times but by 1 and 2 pts.NC is loaded,rested and I think will win the CAA tourney.Will have to wait and see the line.

Drexal -1 over Delaware
Old rivals,both split home and home.Flint was just named CAA coach of the yr.Battle Def. POYr.Drexal is quicker,plays 3 or 4 gds with Battle.UD is bigger and stronger.I'll go with the quicker team here.

Georgetown -11.5 over Rutgers
Rutgers on the road is 1-6.[3-6 ats]They just got spanked by Vir tech 63-49.They had 19 TO's and shot 14-29 from the FT line.They upset GT at home so GT is taking this game serious.They remember the fans pouring out on the floor.Both teams are tied for 4th place in the BE.Both have little chance of going to the dance.With one of the worst FT shooting teams in the BE I'll give up the double digits here.
Will come back later.
Also like this afternoon Texas Tech -4.Auburn is a strong play -3.5.I like them a lot over LSU.
Will capp Rider-Canisius,Manhattan-Fairfield and siena- marist

NCSU and Wake are going to really go at it today. From what i can tell it's the battle for 3rd place. not such a big deal for wake, but for the pack, it's been a long time since they have been in this position, and i think they really want to show they belong in the big dance (even though its pretty much a done deal). I look for the pack to keep it really close, perhaps even a win. They tend to play pretty well on the road. thats just what i think, but im usually wrong

I have to agree!
The wolfpack are a decent team who can play with anyone but duke. They have some pretty good guards and decent size. Who knows how wake will come out and play after the loss to georgia tech. For me its a pass but I think state can cover this number...but again I could be wrong

Courtney Fields is going to try and play for Iona today.

He's far from 100% and his presence in the line-up with hurt Iona more than help them.

Niagara lost to Iona by one, so combination of revenge, knocking off the defending champs, and a deeper bench will bring home the bacon for Niagara.

I also like Manhattan this evening over Fairfield. Have you looked at that one yet?

Adding Rider -5 for a strong play over Canisius.
Griffs played great last nite blowing out Loy-Md.Up 30 at one pt so they put it in neutral in the 2nd half.They shot the lites out in front of a packed crowd of 200 people at the Pepsi Arena.
But Rider is the 1 seed having lost the MAAC conf title[tie]by getting upset by Loy-md the last day of the season.Rider ended up tied with Marist.
Rider has what you want he tournet play.A stud in Porter who was just named MAAC POYr.A great pt gd in Johnsom who was just named Rookie of the yr.They have Baker,Young and a few others that can bang them from beyond the arc.They have 2 big post players that take up a lot of room.
Griffs have a balanced scoring attack but Rider got a wake up call in Md the other day.They want to go dancing and I think they come out smoking today.
I thought the line would be about 7 or 8 pts so at 5 its a bargain.

Buck,I did get NC-Wim at -7.
Mistake finder-I coached for 22 yrs HS b-ball.I was known as Box and one because I used it a lot.I always used "gimmick" defenses.I heard Al McGuire many,many, moons ago at a clinic.His theory was most High Schools have one superstar.So why not use it.But I remember him saying "do you as a coach who has a good player like it when you see another coach use it against you". I said to myself,Hell no,so I used it ever since.

Sorry I blew the Rider game.
Love Marist -2 tonite over Siena tonite.It's a home game for Siena because they are the host.There will be 9,000 fans there cheering on the siants.Marist has beaten them twice.By 8 at home and 3 at Siena.
Marist has strong gds in Smith and Kennedy.Kennedy is 5th in the nation in assits.A mini Stockton.They are the top offensive team in the MAAC and play solid defense.They play 8 or 9 guys and have depth.
Siena has no pt gd.It's by committee.Archbold is there stud but he numbers have fallen off the 2nd half of the season.Karawanga had 11 the other nite but is still in lanier's doghouse.Marist has had trouble in the pepsi arena but finally beat Siena last sat there.
Marist has a chance to go to the "dance".cannot see them losing this to the Saints. Foxes defense will hold down Archbold and there is nobody to stop kennedy.Marist wins this by 6-8 pts.

Latech -2 over UTEP.
Latech has won on the road,has won 10 of last 11 conf games.UTEP has lost 8-9.La tech has balanced scoring and should beat the Miners by 10 pts.

La-Laf -1 over Ark St.
Southall vs jennings is even.But laf has to much talent around him.

WKU -13 over my North Texas.
NT has problems with big post players.At least 8 of their 14 losses are by teams with good post players.Marcus and co last week beat them 100-76.WKU has scoring from everywhere.NT will have a tough time on defense.Their offense can match them for awhile but NT 's defense is hurt'in.

Conn -10.5 over the Hall.
Conn coasts as the Hall fight among each other.
Fairfield +6 over manhattan
Jaspers loaded.Already beat the stags by 16 and 3.But Stags have come alive these past 3 weeks.Spann has played great.And the Gunga-Deng cousins cause teams problems in the paint.Jaspers win but by a few.

Also like Texas -3.5 over ISU and Bonnies to take out Joe collaspe on poor URI.
Speaking of "dances".I'm outta here.My school has the jr prom in a hour and I have to put my dancing shoes.......
