Cubs -130

Two decent hitting teams against RHP here, but I like Darvish better than Wacha. Both will live and die with the strikeouts as the Cards are slightly more prone to K's than the Cubs are. With the wind blowing in today I think the occasional free pass from Darvish shouldn't hurt is a ton. Darvish will walk batters in search of K's, but if he can limit that today I think we win this one going away. Last time out he K'd 8 batters in 6 innings against Arizona who strikeouts less than (by a little) than STL. We have some positive BvP here as well going for the Cubs while most of the STL lineup hasn't faced Darvish. Larry Vanover is scheduled to ump behind home plate which does give me pause for concern, but I like it enough to still lay -130, but not much more.

Atlanta -165

We get the (much) better bats and we get the (much) better pitcher. A little surprised the line isn't higher. Trevor Richards doesn't walk a lot of batters and he doesn't strike out a lot of batters and the Braves will benefit from pitches in the strike zone. Miami just doesn't hit anyone well and a date with Mike Soroka isn't likely to be the cure for that.

Boston -165

Manny Banuelos is 2-0 this year but you wouldn't guess that by looking at his stats. A WHIP of 1.4 is not in the terrible range and neither is an ERA of 2.7, but combine those with not getting out of the 6th inning even once you would think he wouldn't be 2-1 with a ND thrown in until you see those games were against KC once and Baltimore twice. Both teams who don't exactly mash LHP. I'm not gonna sell you that Boston is killing LHP this year either, but after a slow start they are coming around to form closer to what you would expect from the defending champs.

Rodriguez for Boston gives me some concern and I may put a little on the over in this game as a hedge, but een if it gets over the total of 8.5 I see Boston with most of those runs.

OAK -110

Pittsburgh sucks and won't lay a finger on Bassitt. Not exactly handicapping science and, yea, I'm a bit salty at the Pirates for yesterday but sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Cubs -130 1 unit to win .76 units
Atlanta -165 1 unit to win .6 units
Boston -165 1 unit to win .6 units
Oak -110 1 unit to win .91 units

Good luck all.
