sd state and wake over give us a nice start thursday night to this year's posted plays. today i'm not where i have access to my game notes so the writeups will be brief.

lumped these two plays together as they share common factors in my mind. it's pretty much been raining most of the week in eastern north carolina. after having a drought summer, the region is actually experiencing flood conditions in some areas. while having had some recent improvements, wallace wade stadium is by far the sorriest field in the acc. i expect the conditions there today to be horrible. i am certainly aware of both sides of the debate on the effect of weather conditions on totals but today i have to believe the effect will be to lower the scoring. this is a watershed year for the duke coaching staff in light of the continuous losses. the blue devils brough in a new d coordinator from ga tech in order to focus on improving the porous defense in the offseason. ecu's logan is actually under some pressure this season to step it up. this is the debut game for soph qback troth and the pirates travel to wake forest next weekend in a game of much more significance for ecu. with all this, i see no good reason for logan to do anything but keep it close to the vest in order to keep wake a little in the dark and not put the young troth in a situation where he could screw up. still think the pirates win this one, but somewhere in the 28-20 range.
