poor 1-2 last night, plays all mediocre in retrospect. 77-62-2 overall. big slate today; here's a few early ones:

virginia -4: while browsing the sports pages came up with the word of the day that took me back to my days in german class at nc state:

schadenfreude (scha' dun fre duh) - 1. to take malicious pleasure in the suffering of others; 2. feeling that overwhelms one when noticing the tarheel fans slinking away when the conversation shifts to acc basketball.

sorry, it's the wolfpacker slipping out in me; i feel so guilty (not). tarheels without their smugness are just bad. if cavs start 0-3 in the acc they won't be able to dig out of that hole. virginia actually plays well of late in the dean dome and heels are learning how to lose with indifference. i see something akin to the wake game.

davidson +1-: furman lost last two, three of last four because of serious shooting slump, 39% fg. davidson 6-2 s/u, 5-1 ats on the road, playing good d holding opponents to 38% shooting last five games. wildcats have won last nine in this series.

w mich -2: it ain't working out for c mich this year, last win was 12/2. chippewas have lost last 6, 8 of last 10, and are 0-5 s/u, 0-4-1 ats on the road. they have covered one game this year by a half point. w mich in a shooting slump of their own lately should get well here against c mich d giving up 84 ppg, 50% fg, 41% 3 pt in their last five. big rivalry game with packed house, not a good situation for chippewas in their current state.

vandy +10: gators just a little overrated imo coming off overtime scare @ tenn. 'dores coming off tough back-to-back conf road losses at ala and ga should be ready for fla at home, where they have won 4 of last 5 vs gators, 3 of them as dogs. vandy as good as tennessee, and fla was overlayed giving 6 in knoxville, 10 hard to justify here. might even sneak in a small moneyline play here if i can get some nice odds.

be back later with more.

adding:

houston +10: cougars are an improved team with the addition of transfers gaines and truscott.i was impressed with their recent road win at tulane and also witht the way they outrebounded (44-28) the wolfpack, who are the best rebounding team in the acc, with all-out hustle. houston plays decent d, and bearcats don't force the tempo , especially on the road and thus not good road covers @ 1-4 ats. i expect this game to play out in the sixties so double digits look inviting. houston has had plenty of exposure to quality teams this season, also covered their last 5, and have the confidence right now to play well.

by the way.........

if anybody saw the end of that fla/vandy game........didn't you find it very strage how it ended?

something like 12 or 14 or 10 points down with less than 25 seconds to go and BOTH teams are playing like it was a 4 point lead. fouling everytime....i mean, who cares? there was NO shot at winning this game. AND, with something like 8 seconds to play (with a 10 point lead), FLA inbounds the ball, gets double teamed in the corner (why is vandy still playing this hard?) and THEY (Florida) call a time out? WTF was THAT all about? i'm DAMN glad they didn't foul him. man! That would have pissed me off.

i just found it strange. even the players on the benches were STILL really into this game. we're talking 25 seconds left, then 10 seconds left, then 2.5 seconds call a TO?

makes me wonder

hi

hi

We were lucky Vandy even loss by only 10 pts to get the push. They were getting hammered by 23, until they made that miraculous comeback, but I know what u mean, they were playing as if they were down by only 3 instead of 10 in the final 8 seconds of the game. Maybe some vandy players had themselves at 10.5 spread and they needed another point to cover ;)
