Ended up playing Dallas last night as the line moved to -4 (Canbet 1 1/2 hours before game time, Olympic 3 1/2 hours before game time) to move the preseason record to 4-1 +2.9%.
For Saturday:
NY JETS -3.5 -120 New Orleans 37.5
The Saints look to rebound from their poor tackling/drop passes/execution in Monday's game against Philly. The Saints played that game without many of their starters, including Joe Horn and Deuce McAllister, to name a few. Most of those starters who missed Monday's game will play tonight. The starters will play into the second quarter and possibly the whole first half. They are going to NY to win the game, said Haslett.
For the Jets, Herman Edwards has always performed very well in preseason and his team is coming off a lack luster 28-13 win in a down pour last Sunday against Cincinnati, where 20 points were scored in the final two minutes of the game.
The Saints qualify in my best preseason situation, which is now 55-12-2, after winning with GB last week. My only concern with this pick is a new Saints defense that will go against a Jets offense that is looking to air it out. Curtis Martin will also see his first substantial action in this game and the offensive starters will play most of the first half. But, I can't ignore this situation when it pops. It is simply too strong to not play on and I always like taking points in the preseason, when the situation dictates it.
The last reason I like this play is the Saints moved the ball last week in the fourth quarter, while the Jets did not look very good in the fourth quarter last week against Cincinnati. As long as the starters can hold their own, getting points with a third and fourth string team that should be able to move the ball, is awful enticing.
