Jazz

The Jazz have been in free-fall mode recently, going just 2-10 SU in their last twelve games, while the Grizzlies have been one of the hottest teams. However, the Jazz have been on the road a lot and have been struggling with a lot of injuries (last Friday was the first time the Jazz had been at full strength since December). They had two days off now, and will face a Grizzlies team that is playing their fourth game in five days, with no rest off a tough battle at altitude, playing in another high altitude gym. They were outscored by 15 points in the fourth quarter last night, allowing the Nuggets to mount a big comeback. The Grizzlies scored only 33 points in the second half, including starting the fourth quarter going 1-10 from the field. Players from both teams said after the game that it was a tough mental battle to stay in the game. The Grizzlies have had an impressive run recently, but after beating the Blazers and Clippers on the road, then losing to the Nuggets last night, their steam is running out.

The Grizzlies rely heavily on their starters and frontcourt for offensive production. Statistically, they have the fifth worst bench in the league as far as total points scored, and when teams get tired, they really need bench production. Although Randolph has looked great in the last few games, he is returning off an ankle injury, and every once in a while he steps around very tenderly as if it is still bothering him. The game tonight is a battle of frontcourts. Utah has the third best frontcourt in the league, and Memphis has the eighth best (based on the difference between offensive and defensive efficiency). If Utah?s bigs can have a good game, I think Utah should be able to come out with a sound victory.

Memphis is clearly the better team here, but Utah needs a win, badly. Memphis has been super hot, going 14-2 in their last sixteen, including a lot of road wins, but only three of their victories have been against teams with a winning record. While I am not sure that Utah falls in the class of ?winning? right now, I think they will come out with a big win tonight. The Jazz are 20-6 SU at home this season, and they should be able to use their home court advantage tonight against a physically and mentally tired Grizzlies squad.

"We understand where the standings are at,'' said guard Mike Conley. "But we still have 20 games left and anything can happen from there.'' Sounds good Mike, take a night off tonight - no problem.

Jazz -2 x2

Good luck...

Why do you like Cleveland?

I don't really have any clue on that Portland total - Blazers like to push the pace, but Detroit likes to try to play defense.

Like the Jazz tonight too.

Det actually has more overs on the road this year.

16-14 and the game they played in Det this season was 108-101 Det winning.

Good stuff...

The lead ref on the Indy-Philly game is a bit of a home cooler, but this guy may have a little help for Philly:

Haywoode Workman (home teams 26-16 ATS, Philly last ten 10-0 ATS)

That said, George Hill was pissed after the game last night, and I'm not betting against Indy in this spot. They are 2-0 (+20.5 ppg) this season after a home loss as a favorite playing as a road favorite, and 9-1 SU (+8.1) and 7-2 ATS playing on no rest against teams with a losing record. 10-2 SU and 9-2 ATS as a road favorite this season.

But mainly, George Hill was pissed.

The Spurs have not been themselves recently, which could be partially contributed to the absence of Tony Parker. However, losing to the Suns at home, the Timberwolves on the road, and giving up a big lead and letting the Mavs back in the game is totally unlike the consistency they have exhibited this season. Popovich: ?We continued to play in mud like we have been for the last two weeks.? In practice on Friday, the team watched film on different plays from their last few games, and detailed their defensive and offensive struggles. Their ball movement has not been good, and they have played too slow, with lackadaisical defensive effort. Tonight, I think the Spurs will get back to moving the ball and playing unselfish team basketball, which is the type of style that has brought them success for so many years. They also stressed speeding up the offensive tempo, so I think they will score a lot of points tonight against an inconsistent Cavaliers defense.

Ginobili on the need for the team to regain their composure: ?Know your system, trust your teammates, clean your mindset, start all over again.?

Spurs -14
Spurs TT OVER 106.5

Good luck...

GL HH with the Spurs will watch from the sidelines.

Thanks - would still be interested to hear why you like Cleveland. I listened to all the practice interviews from the Spurs' players and I am pretty convinced they are going to give all out effort tonight, especially with a big rest upcoming.

Good luck - let me know if you take anything else!

HH you should be good with SA, the only way SA covers the big number is if Clev plays a slow pace game, then SA will prevail. If a by any chance SA comes out thinking it's going to be an easy game and starts to play down to Clev's level then you Clev will stay within the number. SA will have to push the pace tonight

Curious about the total. Portland 9-1 over last 10 at home. This is Detroits last chance to gt a win on this road trip. Last game at home for Portland and Portland lost last 2 in this series at Detroit. Why did you like this under?
BOL with you on Utah and Spurs HH:0074

HH tight number just played Utah -2 GL with it...

PHX/WAS U 189.5 :nooo: Not even close

Yea, I just read that Corbin is starting Hayward tonight to pick up the offensive pace, so going to lay off.

Martell Webster decided to have a career night from long range for the Wizards...sheeshe! Get 'em next time.

Cavs look good in the first half, but I don't think their super hot shooting will keep up (I hope not!) Pop getting ejected early put a little life in the Spurs to end the half...

Thanks guys - the Jazz had an uncharacteristically good third quarter to save the night!

Spurs didn't play bad, but they did play lackluster defense. Cleveland did outplay them all night - they were the more aggressive team, for sure.

Cheers

You got the feeling last night that at any moment the Spurs could rip off 10 points in a row, but were just disinterested most of the game. Without Parker, Spurs big chalk might be a nice fade vs lesser teams that can score.
