I tried this last week and it seemed to work out OK, so I looked again today for interesing props with value.
Here's what I have come up with:
STL/CAR:
Total Int (Both Teams) Over 2.5 (-110)
--Bulger's thrown 22 so far this year and Car D will be putting pressure on him today. Secondary should have some opportunities. STL D is not terrible either and Delhomme threw 16 himself during the regular season (9 of which came on the road)
Total Punts (Both Teams) Over 9 (-115)
--Last week alone CAR punted 5 times. Granted STL generally scores often at home. However, at home against Baltimore on 11/9, they punt 7 times. Carolina's has to try to keep STL offense off the field and make it a field position battle. Punters could play a big role in this game
On the side, I like STL -7. The straw that broke the camels back for me was CAR strength of schedule. They have not played an unduly difficult schedule and STL is strong at home. I have to believe STL will put up their share of points. It's questionable whether CAR will do the same.
NE/TENN:
Fumbles Lost (Both Teams) Over 1.5 (-115)
--Cold weather means cold hands. Cold hands means dropped balls. Turn overs will make the difference in this game. I don't see a lot of passing here, so let the smash mouth ball begin.
Total Punts (Both Teams) Over 11.5 (-125)
--Tenn punt 6 times last week against Baltimore. That gets us half way there. However, what was most telling for me was reviewing teh 12/7 NE game against Mia ... recall the huge snow storm: 22 punts between NE and Miami (11 each). While we don't have the snow, they certainly have the cold. Field position will again make a huge difference in this game.
McNair Total Rush Yards Under 17 (-115)
--McNair rushed for 18 yards against NE on 10/5. However, he didn't have a bum leg/ankle at that time. He did run for 16 last week against Balt. However, the combination of cold, NE heightened rush defense towards the end of the season, and his ankle, I just don't see a mobile McNair tonight.
On the side, I like NE -6. Their defense has been virtually impenetrable at home. While Tenn is certainly a good team, the weather, second road game in a row, and coaching edge to NE make me lay the points.
Good luck to all!
