A desperate move from a slumping team. Who's next Chauncey Billups? This could have long lasting effects on the future of the Pistons. This guy is ready to break out. He has the potential to be the future logo of the NBA and the Pistons are going to trade him? Just look at his stats this year, AMAZING. The dude is pure talent. As a life long Pistons fan I'm done. I hope this is not true. Would the Spurs trade Duncan...I don't think so.

NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com on Tuesday night that the Pistons and Orlando Magic were close to completing a long-discussed trade that would relocate Milicic, 2003's No. 2 overall pick, to central Florida. The trade could be completed as early as Wednesday

The paper here in Orlando printed Darko and Arroyo for Cato and the magic's #1 pick..the hold up apparently is Orl wants contingenices on pick in case it is a lottery selection...as a long time Tragic sufferer, this would be a STEAL or Orlando and the first reaasonable thing the front office has done in several years...

If the Magic have Nelson and Francis, how would Arroyo help out? Also, giving up Cato and a 1st round pick for Darko who's still a ? doesn't sound to great of a deal on the Magic's end IMO......

Francis is on his way out...no way he will be here come trade deadline...also, Cato is a free agent that they were not going to resign...

This is a great gamble on the Magic's part. If Darko can develop with some court time (which he would get plenty of), then he would make a great frontcourt compliment to Dwight Howard.

Nelson is oft-injured so when Stevey Franchise is traded, Arroyo can step right in and start while making a very quality backup.

obviously a tongue in cheek post from weemz but milicic has talent. he was just drafted by the worst team possible. im not so sure pistons fans should be saying good riddance. would not be a surprise at all if this kid blossomed somewhere else, a la jermaine o'neal.

It's so! It's so! Howard and Darko together...potentially a tremendous 1-2 punch for a long long time...

the move helps the pistons to be able to resign the entire starting five for next year. milicic had no minutes available for him, and the stones get a future pick to help out down the road. in my opinion, the are admitting there mistake, cutting those ties, and moving forward. for those of us around the area, you are either upset about picking darko so high and being wrong, or you are glad the team is finally moving forward. darko could turn out all right, but if he were good enough, he would have earned his minutes and the staff would have been forced to play him! cato's contract is up this year, and there is speculation of him moving once again to strengthen the back up point guard position so as to not have to rely to heavily on lindsay hunter. don't be surprised if one more move happens from this one!

think about this... of course it started with hill for ben wallace, etc, and others like trading stackhouse for rip... trading for rasheed... but think about what they DIDNT do...

They didnt resign Okur and let him walk to Utah, kinda reminds me of an european rasheed. And they didn't take Anthony, because they thought so highly of Prince, (who's not even an all star, slacker moon1 , j/k,he shouldn't be, prince over redd, just because he's a great role player in the system of talent, gimme a break... neither is anthony an all-star... damn the west) but imagine prince as the 6th..... or even 7th man...whoa...

Ben Wallace
Okur
Anthony
RIp
Billups

Rasheed and Prince off the bench.

Okur starting over Rasheed Wallace? What drugs have you been taking and where can I find them?

Okur had to go because his contract was up and a lot of teams saw his skills and made offers. Utah of course generously overpaid for Mehmet much like they did with Boozer, but what big man isn't overpaid. Detroit could not afford it because keeping Okur would mean puting a ton of money into a bench player and wouldnt have been able to resign their starters.

...Carmelo would not be a good fit to that team 3 years ago and still wouldnt be today, he doesn't rebound, he doesn't pass, Melo is good for hitting mid-range shots and getting to the free throw line... and the Pistons already have that in Rip Hamilton

If you really want to play the "what if" game... how about drafting Chris Bosh 2nd... Put him on that front line and I could see them winning 70+ games... then Rasheed could be considered coming off the bench, but had they drafted Bosh, would they have even traded for Sheed in the first place? Hindsight is always 20/20
