When you look at the odds at the bookmaker for the Indy 500 you might want to consider Alex Tagliani who will be starting on the pole.
Tagliani will be starting first for Sunday?s race as he became the first Canadian to ever win the pole. He will not be favored though at the bookie in the Indy 500 as that honor could go to Scott Dixon who will start on the outside of the front row.
Tagliani Was Fast All Week
While it was a surprise at SBG global that one of the big boys didn?t win the pole, Tagliani didn?t come out of nowhere. He was one of the fastest drivers all week and has the top qualifying numbers in both rounds. It seems fitting that Tagliani had some luck in his favor as two years ago he was bumped on the last qualifying attempt.
Franchitti Starting in Row 3
One of the favorites at the bookmaker for the Indy 500 will be defending champion Dario Franchitti. He might have been on the front row if he had not run out of gas on his last qualifying lap. His teammate Scott Dixon will start second and would have been on the pole but he ran out of gas on the final turn.
Castroneves Starting 16th
Another of the favorites at the bookie is Helio Castroneves who won the pole the past two years. He will start 16th on the inside of Row 6. It is his worst-ever starting position at the Indy 500.
Andretti Cars a Bust
It shouldn?t be too much of a surprise that Michael Andretti?s cars continue to struggle. None of his five drivers qualified well with only John Andretti making the field on Saturday. He will start 17th. Marco Andretti and Danica Patrick were poor and will have to do some damage on bump day just to make the field.
