Steve Webster to win 25/1 e.w. @ Boyle Sports [6 places]
Avoiding players who competed in the PGA Championship last week even if they did miss the cut because of the heat and the travelling involved. So, instead, I'm looking for Steve Webster to continue his run of form that netted him finishes of 8th, 7th and 6th in his last three starts with a 65 in the final round of the last European Tour event. He did finish in the top-10 in his last Scandinavian Masters (2004), but it is basically his current form that earns him attention this week. Odds of 28/1 are available, but there should be better value at 25/1 with an extra place on offer.

Simon Khan to win 33/1 e.w. @ SkyBet, Victor Chandler, William Hill and ToteSport
Khan's last appearance in this event was also in 2004 and he, too, finished in the top-10 that week and, also like Webster, he has shown some good form over the last couple of months with finishes of 3rd, 7th and 11th in three of his last five starts. Renowned for his accuracy rather than his power, he should find this course to his liking.

Alexander Noren to win 55/1 e.w. @ Stan James and Bet365
With the odds prohibitively low on Johansson and Edberg, Noren is the chosen home player to be backed this week. Unlike all but a handful of players, he does have course experience, having finished 9th in the Skandia PGA Open (a European Challenge Tour event) in 2005 in his first event as a professional after graduating from Oklahoma State University; he had finished in the top-20 in this event as an amateur just three weeks previously. He has won on the Challenge Tour, led the Estoril Open de Portugal with one round to play in April and finished 5th in the Deutsche Bank Players' Championship of Europe last time out, so he is clearly capable of competing at this higher level. Around this course, he may well provide the fans with a long overdue home win.

Like Webster and though i dont like the 28/1 can't overlook Pelle Edberg. Couple of interesting prices that I couldnt resist in 125/1 about Rodiles and 150/1 (1-6) on Sam Walker. Had top 10s on both as well.

My mate who knows Phil Archer is on hols but have text him to see if he's speaking to him as to how practice is going as wouldnt rule him out this week.

Match ups:

Only really Levet over David Howell jumped out at 9/10 but only minimal interest.

Outrights:

Peter Lawrie(66/1) e.w.
- - As is the case every year, by necessity it's now a few weeks of immersion in football capping after the PGA, with golf plays and efforts rapidly tapering off . . . A run of the right courses is finally on the horizon for Lawrie, and he's been on the right track all season for stepping up to those opportunities, although it's actually the pairing this week that smacks of the right time and place (but his lack of oddschecker prices suggest a WD?). Hmmm. Bubba WD Watson had been my long range play for Greensboro. Hmmm. . . . Anyway, if my strategy down the stretch involved 6-8 plays on the Irishman, supplemented sparingly with my 10-15 best plays as they arise on whatever Tour over the next 3 months (while standing out and catching my eye on whatever basis during the 30 minutes or 15 hours spent hereafter during any given week on the computer and/or watching coverage), I strongly suspect that strategy would produce a better bottom line than merely tapering off from this point forward but continuing to average 5-10 plays per week across all Tours.

Simon Dyson(22/1) e.w.
- - He's done well with my cash when streaking before, I wisely avoided him while overgolfed this summer, he purposefully opted for here over Carolina, and he could easily pop early ahead of KLM next week.

Alexander Noren(50/1) e.w.
- - Oklahoma stirrings always kept his name alive for the transatlantic week after.

Michael Jonzon(100/1) e.w.
- - Left standing after capping the home contingent.
