Round 1 play (4pts):
Alexander Noren to beat Branden Grace +100 @ Paddy Power
Opposing Grace who, despite being a three-time winner on the European Tour this season, does not appear to be a particularly good links player. He missed the cut in Northern Ireland two weeks ago, has played in the Dunhill Links Championship just once (and missed the cut by 14 shots) and the only cut that he has made in his last four visits to Scotland was in a Challenge Tour event in 2010. Noren's missed cut in this event last year can ignored given the weather disruption, so comparable courses can be found in the Dunhill Links Championship in which he has made the cut in four of the last five years, and over the same timeframe he has made the cut in eight of 11 starts in Scotland. He has shown very good form in his last two European Tour starts and I expect to deal better with this week's predicted weather forecast.
[unofficial rd1 system plays: Singh tb Wiesberger -105; Cabrera tb McGinley +105; Ramsay tb Olesen -111]
