Can't believe College Hoops have started...

Thursday...

Birmingham Southern -11' - Panthers are eligible this year for postseason play (a year earlier than expected). While the Bulldogs may have the best backcourt in the SWAC, it will not be enough to stop all of the 3's of Sigurdarson and Collins.

Miss St -10' - Roberts is out, Gai is in. Still not enough to sway me that while Fairfield will compeat well with Niagara, Iona and a Flores-less Manhattan, they are not in the same league as one of the top teams from the SEC. Only fear is starters will be sitting at the end for the Bulldogs, while the Staggs may leave in top players for "experience".

Bucknell +8' - Top team from the Patriot League vs. top team from the Ivy League. The Bison are young as they start 2 juniors and 3 sophs, but all 5 were starters last year. The Tigers return 4 starters from last year but have the added tasks of a new coach as Scott returns home from the Colorado Academy. Defense will be played hard by both teams here so look to take the points in what should be a close game the entire way.

St. Marys -9 - Belmont loses 31 points with the departure of Mark and Drabyen and don't return anyone averaging more than 4 rbs per game. Randy Bennett is in what looks like the starting phase of a very good program. Even though the Gaels will miss Marigney and Adjiwanou, there are 3 other returning starters (Kickert, Rowland, Sanders) that will allow leadership on the floor while some of the reserves play to show they deserve minutes this year.

Cal -14 - The Highlanders lose their top scorer and rebounder in Nate Carter(Transfer to Sooners). The Golden Bears will struggle at times this year but the bottom of the PAC-10 is very different from the bottom of the Big West.

Don't like drinking a chalk shake with only one squirt of dog this early in the season but that's what seems to be the best on the menu.
