think you can find my house...big red one

the plot....all 3 daughters plan to visit our home for the summer [end of July"...from Austin,Orlando and Philadelphia ...come and clean the house, get rid of 30 years of everything...basement and attic...sell everything...kitchen table ,all furniture...living room,bedroom,tv,etc...rent a 7'7 foot pod and put everything in it to ship to Austin... bring in a friend of ours who is a realtor in the village...and put the house up..."if we don" do this dad will never sell"....wife is in on the plot...when Shakespeare wrote " Julius Caesar" Julius didn't realize Brutus and his gang were involved" My son although who was neutral in this plan knew of it and remained silent so to me he is just as guilty...
From a practical standpoint I do understand we should sell our house.. I live in it for 4 months and my wife 2 months..the kids come up for 2-3 weeks...we pay almost $11,000 in taxes but paid the house off 15 years ago..last year we rented it out and did well...I have the best house in the village....a dumb waiter in the basement,a cistern below the basement 12'12...all dry...an attic beyond belief... you could put 3 bedrooms, kitchen, living room,bathroom...huge walk up attic...the front door is the original door 1883...banister and all the wooden floors are the original...a servant quarter steps going into the kitchen....can go on and on...I can walk to the Deli,banks,5 restaurants,3 bars, all a block away...no traffic since I live on a 4 way stop...my wife's yard has over 1,000 Hydrangeas coming from 6 plants ...the soil came from the garden of Eden...
my family rented a house this week in Ocean city NJ..all part of the plot...put the house on the market and get dad out of the house...so on Sunday it was listed...some one here can find it and put it here...gave the info on the top of post...
Having a terrible time letting go...I love the Hudson Valley...our summers fall and springs are unreal..the winter is bad..but I do like Austin a lot...would never move but Austin is awesome... I play racquetball every morning with a group of 10 guys ...we bought a condo next to my daughter who teachers,,her daughter is 10 yrs old...my son just had a baby and also lives Austin..so 2 grandchildren...have a daughter in Philly who teaches and another daughter who works at the Grand Floridian in Disney..

so this week they all decided to rent a house and put our house on the market...It was tough cleaning my attic and basement last week...so many things to try to get rid of....your whole life...is down to a 7' pod...
anyway will keep you updated...no more Marist basketball games...do have tickets to the Army Rice football game...but where will I be...wish I knew...
hope everyone is having a nice summer...not sure of the line yet but think LSU beats Texas big..have been to AC the past 2 nites....hit a nice 5 team parlay and played my house number 139 and it came in...I said that could be a sign " not to sell"

I understand Box.......Your whole life's memories are stored in that home. I told my oldest son and his sisters to take inventory of what they may want to have as a family Heirloom and forget the rest. It's not like you take an acre of land and bury all your lives goods with you. Down sizing is a good thing...... GL :0074

So many memories. It must be hard just looking at the pictures. I?m surprised your wife doesn?t seem too bothered with this huge decision. I guess it is practical but man, that?s a lot of years and memories to walk away from. All the best Box. Like betone one said... downsizing is good. But it does mean we?re getting old. Ugh!

Beautiful home Box+1

Over the many years on this website I have come to expect a few things.

Take the Over when Sports tells you too.

Don't click any links that FDC posts.

& Make time to read any of Box+1 posts.

The stories you have shared on this site, the selfless card sending act that you orchestrated, the youtube interview that I watched and the many other posts that you have shared with insight and analysis tells me that even with the significance that the house holds for you, the number of lives that you have affected outside of that home probably rivals the registered number of MJ users. You have only ever shared the tip of the iceberg with us.

My Mom fell and broke her hip last Saturday. The hip will mend but we are facing dementia issues that will require 24/7 care probably for the rest of her life. She is 71. For the past 12 days I have made her a promise that I will take her home as soon as she is discharged. That happens tomorrow. The inevitable is that she won't be able to live at home for the rest of her life. I just don't know the when that day will come.

I selfishly looked this up for me but wanted to put a little Jocko in your life today because maybe you just need a little kick to get things going. It has taken a lifetime for you to build the reputation that you have but it can all be erased in mere seconds. I would challenge you to do the stoic today. Tell your family, Good.

Best of Luck Box - Let's meet up at Salt Lick on your next trip down.

Thank you guys for the support...Josh just down loaded Jocko's you tube....that was me...the past 3 weeks i have been so low...how to you throw things out.... I have over 5-6 boxes of newspapers articles about my basketball teams...Front cover maybe 6 times and back cover 12 times...a guy at the newspaper I knew gave me the original sheets that they printed the paper on...about 2 boxes of trophies winning the sectionals.regionals, final 4,state championships....8 banners,plaques.. I was Coach of the year 5 times and in "96 the NY State Coach of the year...my wife says " what are you going to do with all this..." its all up in the attic...most people put all this in their offices or dens...mines in the attic...in boxes...collected newpapers of " Munson killed,Yogi Berra passes away,Ali beats Foreman,Mantle hits his 500th,etc,etc

Baseball cards.over 10,000 full sets of Topps 72'73'74'75'...tons of Donruss,Scores,etc...signed baseballs...Mantle,Hank,Schmidt,and another 10 HOF's...Starting line ups figures, and original Heartland figures ..not sure if any one knows Heartland...I have a Yogi Berra with mask...every Berra around has no mask...but I have one...the only thing left in my attic are my baseball stuff..when I get back to my house next week a collector is coming over to look at my stuff....will keep some of it but 85% has to go... i have a 1953 Mantle in mint condition..perfect cut,no creases....but in 1969 took it to Denton,Texas and put some silly puddy on the back so it sticks in my North Texas dorm room door...it took about 75% of the original back writing off...about 10 years ago took it to a baseball card show...the guy offered me about $2,000 seeing its in mint condition until he turned it over...offered me $250...said no thanks ...

in the basement I have all my parents stuff... I lived in Italy for 10 years on an American Army base...we lived about an hour away from Carara...its where all the marble comes from in Italy..my mother has 10 pieces tables,lamps,etc... my kids have taken each a piece of one...I have given my friends in NY some..but it the same marble and mountain that Michelangelo did his David and La Pieta...have a few pieces left..
all my fathers stuff...from his original Manhattan College diploma in a huge frame ..all is World War 2 stuff,pictures,letters,etc...I have a picture of him in July of 1944 at St Peters in Rome with 100 fellow AMG officers...two soldiers to his right and fellow officer was the man who John Hersey wrote the book " A Bell for Adano"...it won the Pulitzer prize...a World war 2 picture of Mussolini hanging upside down in Milan..its an original Army picture...so many more things....I have to keep many of these things but where...my condo isn't that big in Austin...how do you down size...

Sorry just ranting...in Ocean City until Saturday...my wife and i will be on our own...daughter from Texas is leaving here to drive back to Austin..philly daughter is going home...Orlando daughter is already back at Disney...will leave here around 9,drive up to Paramus to see my parents cemetery, have lunch at White castle and drive home to an empty house...have to finish putting some stuff in the pod and send it off to Austin...so far about 10 people have looked at our house...but I think the price is to low so there is no wiggle room...the house has over 1,000 more sq feet then listed but there is a reason..
Tomorrow will go to Atlantic City and make a few plays...
Have no idea when I head south.. Josh I live right off 1826 in southwest austin...very close to Salt lick..we can do lunch someday...
Have a ticket to the Rice-Army game on Aug 30th...will keep everyone updated...appreciate the comments...
