Biggest betting event of the week for me and some live coverage to boot!
Doug Tewell 25/1 Bet365 (is 28/1 Centrebet but only 4 places) - gone off the boil slightly since his last win but he does tend to always do that for a month - expect him to bounce back.
Tom Purtzer - won here in 91 on the PGA tour - has shown glimpses of form on the Senior Tour and could well surprise - 40/1 Bet365, Surrey, Stan James
Lanny Wadkins - has an excellent record at Firestone and played well earlier this season - 100/1 everywhere
Last choice is Overton - 100/1 Bet365 - Clive rates him so I'll bite at the generous odds

Difficult to see beyond the favs this week...the quality of iron play needed here will suit them down to the ground....I've never done this before, but....

Irwin 13/2 Bet 365
Watson 8/1 most places

shame on me...
Irwin's record this season is incredible, no worse than 6th in every event bar the first...if I had Bmad's stick, I couldn't knock him out of a place.
The major's are the only senior events that Watson cares about, and if he can reproduce his Colonial form from the main tour he will win easily...

of the remainder, I'll stick with the quality players...

Doug Tewell - 25/1 always struck me as a player who peaks for the majors

Jim Thorpe 33/1 ..only four places at this price, but his length will help him here

Should be a great event

Clive,
We need to get rid of those little demons inside you that compel you to back short priced favourites!! Where's your value?
I'm going to stick with Morris Hatalsky, haven't seen better than the 25/1 with William Hill. (If he's playing... notice he is not quoted with them all but does have a 1.10pm tee time)

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
OUTRIGHTS

Tom Watson(8/1 for 0.40* e.w. @ Bet365)
Even at 72 holes, a slow start is what I most fear. Nevertheless, there seems a good chance the winless Watson will be dialed in to contend, in
which case matching shots with Watson at Firestone would seem a tall order for most everyone on the senior tour.

Sigel(50/1 for 0.20* e.w. @ Bet365)
His good play still comes in streaks.

Ian,
You could well be right about Morris making better progress as the stagger unwinds... his round by round scores definitely back that up. But I can always have a top-up later.

I don't have an account with Centrebet... it's too far to travel to kick their teeth in if they refuse to pay me.

I have found a personal "unfortunate trend".
the last 3 players I have backed Gilder,Eaks and this week Purtzer and all managed 6 over on their 1st round

Zoeller came good at the wrong time.... this I morning took a generous looking 5/1 Se Ri Pak at Stan James and also stuck her in 2 doubles with Irwin & Nelson. Didn't see it but from the Golfweek report it seems Fuzzy saved a few pars from unlikely positions :(
