Tom Watson to win 14/1 e.w. @ BetInternet and William Hill
Was kicking myself for most of last week for not backing Watson at 20/1, but his hometown voodoo continued courtesy of a cold putter on Sunday and he finished 2nd. This was example that home advantage can become a disadvantage in the deciding part of a game. But those Sunday putting worries aside, this was a return to the form that brought him six consecutive top-5 finishes on this Tour until the Senior PGA Championship in May. And with a record of finishing 2nd and 3rd in his last two attempts here, he really should be in the mix once again, as he always is in the Senior Majors.
Brad Bryant to win 22/1 e.w. @ SkyBet
Compared to the last four months, last week's 14th place finish was a major disappointment. Since the Toshiba Senior Classic in March, he has finished on worse than 11th in every event, winning twice. He still ranks 3rd on the Money List and Charles Schwab Cup Points List behind Haas and Roberts (he is also behind Watson in the Scoring Average stats), so would have been expected to be at lower odds, particularly at SkyBet and particularly as he has good course form under his belt (his 16th place finish on his debut last year was his best finish in an eight-event stretch).
D.A. Weibring to win 30/1 e.w. @ BetInternet
The last thing that you need when you have momentum is to sit around waiting to play your shot. After 12 holes of the final round on Sunday, Weibring was seven-under-par for the day and had surged into sole possession of the lead, but after he hit his drive into a good position on the 13th, when he arrived for his second shot, the trio in front were no more than 40 yards ahead. Weibring had to wait more than 10 minutes to play his approach shot, which he overhit to the back of the green, from where he three-putted after leaving his first putt four-feet short. Had the group in front not caused so many problems, there could have been a different story on Sunday and for that reason, he is backed again this week. Finishes of 13th and 5th in the last two years are two more good reasons to give him another chance to continue Sunday's hot streak.
