Hudson Valley area.....NY
September 11th....
Tomr.is a day our generation will never forget. The Hudson Valley in NY was hit hard by this crazy act of terrorism.Over 85 people died in the towers from my surronding area.Doug Miller NYFD Rescue 5 from my school was killed. His 2 kids attend our school. Not a trace of him was ever found.
The next town over from me Washingtonville,NY had 8 fireman all killed. All went to the same church,St Marys where my kids and myself have played CYO basketball for the past 15 years.
On the way to my school everyday I still remember the parking lot for the PATH trains to NYC.There were 6 cars that no one picked up that night left at the station.Their owners worked for Cantor Fitzgerald,or Marsh and McLennan.
One car stayed there for 6 months as a symbol. His family had hope someday that there loved one would come home.Everyday people put flowers on the car until it became totally covered.
I would drive by everyday and just shake my head looking at the car.
The two planes the terrorist hijacked came right over our town. The plane from Boston circled the Albany area looking for the Hudson River. The Newark plane did the same. They used the Hudson River as there guide to the World Trade Centers and criss crossed over Newburgh and West Point.
I know we all were effected by this incredible incident.Maybe me a touch closer because I could see some faces.
Tomr.morning Gov Pataki has every HS in NY State honoring the deceased with 4 different "moments of silence".The 1st one will be when the plane hits Tower 1.Then another moment when the plane hits Tower 2.Then 2 more moments of silence as each Tower falls.
I like that.
I hope tomorrow you all do the same.

Box- Great post. I'm about 15 minutes from you and can certainly empathize, as this area took a harder brunt than most of the country.

St Mary's reminds me...when I would play there in the winter, I always wanted to wear a parka, gloves, and ear muffs in the gym...did they ever get heating in the gym? Rough place to play.

Never forget. Never forget.

May we never experience another day like that again.

Great post Box...My wife works for United Airlines. We lost friends that were on our wedding list.

Like Elliot said - I hope we never have a day like that again.
