WINNING POINTS

Wednesday, January 9

**PREFERRED
*Milwaukee over Miami by 10
We?ll continue to look to fade the Heat, playing their third road game in four days and
fourth in six days. The Heat are banged-up. Shaquille O?Neal has started to miss time
because of a thigh injury. Point guard Jason Williams has a bad knee, which makes him
day-to-day. Second-string point guard Chris Quinn has been out leaving the Heat thin
at this crucial spot and vulnerable to underrated Mo Williams. O?Neal and William
are two of the worst defenders at their respective positions. They?re even more immobile
when saddled by injuries. MILWAUKEE 108-98.

**PREFERRED
Detroit over *Dallas by 6
The Pistons are one Eastern club that traditionally has been able to hold their own
against the elite Western clubs. The Pistons came into the final days of December playing
the best defense in the NBA holding seven of their last eight foes to fewer than 81
points. Not one of these opponents could manage even 90 points on Detroit. The
Pistons? bench is playing better this season, which has been a help. The Mavericks have
yet to reach last season?s consistency. DETROIT 96-90

GEORGE MASON over *Delaware...CAA scouts indicate a significant gap exists this season between loop ?haves? and ?have-nots.? And
though Delaware HC Monte Ross making slight progress in second year of major rebuilding job, Blue Hens still lack depth and manpower of
conference elite such as GMU, reflected in the severe beating U-Dee continues to absorb on boards (outrebounded by hefty 12 caroms pg
entering January). And that lack of presence in paint is bad news vs. an experienced baseline operator such as Patriot sr. frontliner Will
Thomas. Major class difference like year ago, when GMU won both meetings handily.
GEORGE MASON 81 - *Delaware 58 RATING - 11

*NEW ORLEANS over Denver....CTO sources urge us to support revitalized 11-2 New Orleans, which has quickly morphed into genuine Sun
Belt contender under new, enthusiastic, well-trained 30-year-old HC Pasternack (spent last 8 years as Ben Braun assistant at Cal).
Privateers reigning Sun Belt Player of Year 6-0 sr. G McCalebb (22 ppg, 42% treys) will continue to impress NBA scouts vs. Denver?s thin
backcourt sans requisite playmaker (leading assist man is 6-8 C Tanner!). Youthful Pioneers (5 underclassmen play extensive mins.) unable
to milk clock vs. go-go NO (77 ppg) extending margin with accurate FT shooting (74%).
*NEW ORLEANS 81 - Denver 57 RATING - 10

NBA:

5 Unit Black Magic NBA Blowout of the Week on Phoenix Suns -11

Phoenix will take advantage of Indiana?s inability to defend. We cashed in Utah last night over the Pacers and as the Jazz won by 22 points. Now we will continue to bet against Indiana tonight as we crush the books courtesy of the Phoenix Suns. Indiana has lost 7 out of their last 8 games now. They have failed to cover the spread in each loss as well. This may be the ugliest defeat the Pacers suffer all season tonight. Indiana is 3-19 ATS versus good passing teams, averaging more than 23 assists/game over the last 2 seasons. They don?t defend the pick and roll well at all. Steve Nash and company will put on a show tonight. Cash in with Phoenix as the favorite.

3 Unit Sharp Play on Dallas Mavericks -2.5

The Mavericks will kick the Pistons while they are down on TNT tonight. Detroit finally lost a game to the Boston Celtics in their last game out. It will suffer rare back-to-back losses when the Mavs get done with Detroit Wednesday. We will play against all teams where the line is +3 to -3, a hot team with at least 20 wins in their last 25 games. This System is 36-14 over the last 5 seasons with a 72% winning ratio. Oddsmakers tend to give these hot teams too much respect. Detroit should be a much bigger underdog tonight. Cash in with Dallas as the favorite.

NCAA Basketball:

3 Unit Sharp Play on Troy State -1

Troy at 8-6 on the season will roll right over Florida International at 4-9 on the year. Troy has won 7 out of their last 9 games overall and they are not about to let Florida International spoil their party tonight. Florida International is 1-6 in their last 7 games overall. Troy beat Florida International on the road 56-51 last season. A repeat performance will come true Wednesday. Troy State is 10-2 ATS after scoring 45 points or more in the first half last game. Florida International is 4-13 ATS when playing only their 2nd game in 8 days over the last 3 seasons. Cash in with Troy State as the favorite.

3 Unit Sharp Play on George Mason -5

George Mason is 10-4 on the year. 5 Starters have returned for their ?07-08 campaign and their experience is paying off in the early season. George Mason is 10-1 ATS in road games after 2 straight games giving up 9 or less offensive rebounds over the last 3 seasons. George Mason has played a tough schedule to this point with games against Villanova, South Carolina, Kansas State and Kent State. This experience against better teams will have George Mason winning by double-digits against a lesser Delaware squad tonight. Cash in with George Mason as the favorite.

(521) ORL Magic
(522) LA Clippers

Take "(521) ORL Magic" Play Orlando!
It?s been a frustrating week for Orlando, with a pair of last second losses to the Nets and Rockets. They?ve had a strong season under new Coach Stan Van Gundy, with an incredible 15-5 SU, 15-3 ATS record on the road! They take on a stumbling Clippers team that has only two wins against plus-.500 teams this season -- the Warriors and Nuggets -- and have lost eight of their last nine games. Tim Thomas is battling a sore knee, Elton Brand is out, while Sam Cassell continues to battle injuries. They average just 90 ppg at home, where they are a miserable 5-11 SU, 6-10 ATS. Play the Magic!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

SMOKIN Dave Cokin

569) Denver
(570) New Orleans

Take "(569) Denver" Dave has another guaranteed college parlay winner tonight, and just like the last two, this combo is set to sweep again. Go 2-0 or the rest of January is FREE. Just $25 for Dave's guaranteed parlay, available now at his Solid Gold Club!... "Just looking at the records, the number on tonight's Sun Belt duel between Denver and New Orleans looks okay. The Pioneers are just 6-8, while UNO is 11-4. But a closer examination indicates that these teams are actually very close, and I believe the contest would be dead even on a neutral court. The Privateers are therefore laying too many in my estimation, and I'll step in and take what I feel is excellent value with Denver."

Michael Cannon

East Carolina (+30') at MEMPHIS

Take the points with East Carolina tonight when they travel to take on Memphis.

Despite this being the conference opener for Memphis, the Tigers could be in a letdown spot tonight.

That's because they played a tough non-conference schedule against the likes of Arizona, Georgetown and Usc. Now they must find a way to get up for an Ecu team they are heavily favored against.

Since the Tigers know they basically just have to show up to win, I don't expect them to keep going full throttle for the duration tonight.

Ecu has improved its perimeter game this year, hitting 46.7 percent of its 3-point attempts in the last three games. That should help them stay within the big impost tonight.

Take the points with Ecu as they stay within the big number.

2♦ EAST CAROLINA

Bobby Maxwell
Mississippi (+10) at TENNESSEE

We know Mississippi hasn't won in Tennessee in nine straight tries, but we don't have to get a win today to cash our ticket. We just need the Rebels to hang close and that's exactly what they'll do.

This game will come down to the wire as the undefeated Rebels are good and have rattled off 13 straight wins to start the season. And there are some nice wins in there with a victory over Clemson 85-82 as three-point underdogs back on dec. 22. The Rebels also beat Depaul 69-63 this season and went to Central Florida and beat a pretty good team on its home court 76-67 as three-point chalk.

Tennessee has been off since playing in Seattle against Gonzaga on Dec. 29, so there might be a little rust as the Vols play just their second game in 16 days. And other than Gonzaga, there really isn't anybody of note on the Tennessee list of wins this year. The Vols played Texas on a neutral court and got drilled 97-78 as a 6 1/2-point favorite.

This game looks like it's going to be tight throughout as both average 86 points a game and both give up right at 70 points a game.

Last time these two met was a little less than a year ago when Mississippi scored an 83-69 home win as three-point favorites.

Let's take our chances with the undefeated Rebels in this one. We're getting a lot of points and can see this one coming right down to the buzzer.

2♦ MISSISSIPPI

Selection: Drake -9.5 (-110)

Reason: Put us down on Drake -9.5 for our Free College Basketball Selection on Saturday. Today Indiana State will be on the road as they take on Drake. We will lay the points with Drake. Drake has the much better offense and defense. Indiana ! State (on the road) is scoring an average of only 62.2 points per game, while Drake (at home) is scoring an average of 78 points per game. Indiana State (on the road) is allowing opponents to score an average of 72.5 points per game, while Drake (at home) is allowing opponents to score an average of only 54 points per game. The bottom line, Indiana State struggles when playing on the road. In fact, Indiana State is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games. Lay the points with the home team! Take Drake -9.5!

Detroit Pistons +2.5

Wed Jan 9 '08 9:05p

The Detroit Pistons and the Dallas Mavericks prepare to go head to head an key EAST /WEST heavy weight battle this Wednesday night . The visiting Pistons had an 11 game win streak snapped last time out at home against the powerful Boston Celtics, and will be primed and ready to get back on track, against an equally hot Mavericks team, who are on a 4 game win streak that includes victories in 9 of their L/11 overall. Both these teams are currently in top form, but the Pistons have shown a tremendous amount of resiliency and toughness this season, against all comers and are currently according to my own personal power rankings the superior team in this matchup, even though Dallas has home court advantage. Final notes & Key Trends: Detroit is 6-0 ATS L/6 against Southwest division teams, and have covered 6 of the L/8 meetings in this series. Play on the Pistons
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Strike Point from Doc's Site

Rhode Island +3.5 over Dayton

Two thriving A-10 schools collide, both with Big Dance aspirations. Dayton has knocked off the likes of Pitt, while the Rams took care of Syracuse in the Dome. And in this one it will be the underdog that comes through with the victory. Rhode Island has been awfully good on offense, led by one of its trio of top scorers in Will Daniels. He'll turn in a good effort to earn a victory for his squad in Ohio tonight.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

BILL YOUNG

Take Duke Blue Devils

1* on Duke -11.5 The Dukies will have no problem dismantling Temple tonight. This game is being played at a neutral site which will further Duke?s odds of covering this small spread Wednesday. Temple is coming off a 17-point loss to Florida at a neutral site location. The Gators lost all 5 starters from last season and they clearly are not as good as Duke is this season with 4 returning starters. Temple will be overmatched once again tonight. Temple is 0-12 ATS versus good 3 point shooting teams making better than 37.5 of their attempts over the last 2 seasons. Temple?s offense isn?t explosive enough to contend with all the 3-point daggers the Blue Devils will throw in Wednesday night. Take Duke and lay the points.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Scott Spreitzer

Charlotte Bobcats at Boston Celtics
Wednesday, January 9th, 7:35 PM ET

I'm laying the points with the red-hot Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. Boston continues to roll, but may be without Ray Allen until the weekend. However, the team is deep and obviously experienced and take on a Bobcat squad that's 0-7 ATS when playing in revenge off a loss so far this season. Boston beat Charlotte in November and will have little trouble slamming the Bobcats on Wednesday. Look for the Celtics to stay focused with a 20 point win.

Play on: Boston
----------------------------------------------------------------------

BIG AL

Iowa Hawkeyes +13.5 over Ohio State Buckeyes

Duke vs. Temple (NCAAB) - Jan 9, 2008 7:00 PM EST

Play: TEMPLE

At 7 pm, our complimentary selection is on the Temple Owls plus the points over Duke. Let's play on the Temple Owls as an underdog on Wednesday night. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.
