im from la
been a huge lakers fan since i was 8, relatively young, so i'm post showtime era

used to love kobe/dislike shaq since the trade

now starting to flip flop

i was watching some of the old footage of shaq, esp the amazing comeback against portland

cant believe that was 10 freaking years ago

shaq will always be to me the most dominant player/biggest game changer to ever play the game

how fun it would have been to see lebron vs shaq in his prime

d. howard is a pussy

shaq is the shit/we can't just gloss over a legend

sorry but shaq isnt/wasnt the most dominant player or biggest game changer to ever play the game (that would be michael jordan) and shaq wasnt even the most dominant center, that would be wilt chamberlain.

Game changer

Game changer

If you never saw Wilt then you do not know what a game changer or the most dominant player is. Shaq had his day to bad he got fat, old and lazy, glad he got out of LA.

Don't know who is right about the center position. Wilt had some tall sticks to cover him. Do agree with MJ as best ever at any position. Sad to see Shaq. Know he has been hurt, but not much left unless he becomes a role player. Think he has too much pride for that.

Walt dominated in a time when athletes were no where close of the caliber today. Sure on paper he was the MOST dominant ever but SHAQ is clearly #2.
It is funny how people knock him sure he is way past his prime but then again so was Jordan on the WIZARDS.

a guy who couldnt shoot 50% from the line or from 10 feet of further and has no offensive moves but to bang away isnt a very dominant player.

put him in wilt's era and he's twice as big as he is vs todays athletes.....but he's called for 6 offensive fouls by halftime in every game since they the inside guys actually played basketball back then, not a hybrid of wrestling-football-basketball

If U did't say Wilt chamberlain changed the gm of basketball then UR too young to understand....Let me not forget BIG "Bill" from the Celts.....who employeed how to play DEFENSE. Jordan I can say was the best all around....Pistol Pete brought "FLASH" and could shoot the hell out of the rock....too bad colleges didn't have the "3" when he was playing.....Jerry West brought a great shooter and steadiness, just as Walt Frazier...Earl the Pearl Monroe brought a great deal of flash...Bob Love from Chi could shoot the hell out of the ball...Lew Alcindor brought us the hook shot which has disappeared (WHY:shrug: ), Oscar Robertson who could score, rebound and dish it out the best of any 1, sorry I love b-ball n could go on...Larry Bird, Sydney Wicks, Artis Gilmore,George Girvin, Nate Archibald, Wes Unseld,Dr J, wow I will stop. Could go on forever but when I played I attempted to emulate every1 of these guys in the backyard.....Oh those were the days.

Bham, Al
when shaq got down the court he was hard to stop. But man, how do you NEVER develop a small jump or a a free throw? Hard to compare he and wilt. Olajuwon (or whatever with the spelling) and Ewing at least tried to develop a small set or jump shot. Shaq is a little too 1 dimensional for me to hang "most dominant" on.

My vote would be for Wilt, just cuz he acted horribly in Conan the Destroyer. Bombatta, I blve was his name. That was some good shit. And he never made a pathetic rap album.

what year did shaq score 100 point in one game?

when did they change the rules of the game because of shaq?

and no, the hack a shaq rule isnt changing the rules because he's dominant, they changed the rules because he sucked so bad at shooting ft's.

wilt was 2x as dominant as shaq and it's not even close.

ok, ill concede wilt to the guys that saw him play

but in my era of watching basketball, toward the tail end of mj's career, and the beginning of shaq, there wasnt a player who could physically destroy a team singlehandedly

kobe is amazing, and im not trying to get into a kobe/shaq debate, but withouth shaq, la has no championships obviously...

i just dont like seeing a legend like shaq end his career this way, with people forgetting what an unstoppable beast he was

in his prime he was like the 6th grader playing against all 3rd graders
