I have seen several references on this forum to " sharp shops " in regard to several on line books. If a book is sharp, would it not be a good idea to let their sharp lines tell you which games to play ?

Example: If a sharp shop as Favorite listed at -6 and another less sharp shop has the same game at -6.5, would it not be a good idea to play the dog in this case.

When books take positions like in the above example, how often are they correct ?

Combato,

People have done just that with good success.

Do a search on here for the poster "Never Caught Up" and in the title, try "FTSM" of "Follow the Smart Money"

He has very good writeups on this subject. It may take a little digging and different searches, because I don't think he's posted the rundown in quite some time. But it's there somewhere and good reading so you don't have to reinvent the wheel.

good luck.
