For now taking Kevin Streelman +4500 for small bet... only because he is a friend of mine and will be out there watching him.

Would stay well away from Streelman at that price.
He wil be +2 or worse after the first round.

Round 1 play (4pts):

Geoff Ogilvy to beat Martin Kaymer -101 @ Pinnacle [also available @ Five Dimes, Stan James and WSEX]
After his 3rd place finish in the CA Championship, Kaymer appears to be in the better form of the two, but Ogilvy has certainly shown some recent glimpses of the form that netted him the SBS Championship in January. In his last outing in the Transitions Championship, he thought that he had missed the cut and so flew home to Scottsdale, Arizona, only to find that he would be playing at the weekend and so flew back to Florida and shot 65 in the 3rd round. The lack of sleep caught up with him in the final round as he finished 28th, but that is an indication that he can play well for 18 holes at least. And then there is his record in this event: four top-10 finishes in six attempts on which two have been on this week's course: he finished 2nd two years ago and held the lead after 36 and 54 holes last year only to fall back to 6th in the final round. The course clearly suits Ogilvy's strength - putting - as well as being good preparation for next week.

Seems like one of the coolest guys on tour. Always has rowdy galleries :mj06:
45/1 is ridiculously short though for such a top field with a guy with no wins http://bettingzone.oddschecker.com/golf/shell-houston-open/win-market/bet-history/kevin-streelman

Ya I am not sure he can win it but he has been playing well so we will see... Only put $10 on it (1/10 of a normal play)

For Plays I am taking:

Streelman over Donald +125 (2 units)
Streelman has been playing well last couple weeks and has the length for this course. Maybe another homer pick but I like this matchup

Mickelson over Casey +110 (2 units)

Marino over Watson -115 (1 unit)

Ogilvy over Harrington -110 (1 unit)

Good luck guys and I should be out there Friday

This weeks group has Couples 46-1, Olgilvy 28-1, Byrd 75-1, Bohn 190-1, and Marino 95-1, in it. Old guys, young guys, good guys, longshots, a good mix of misfits. The odds were from Betfair on Monday night. Without going into the banter and jokes accompanied with each guy, my pick this week is---

Marino to win 60-1 sia

This is long-shot territory, I know it. I do think that Marino will win eventually, probably some minor tournament, not this one, but heck, maybe....

Couples over McIlroy +100

No one can bet against McIlroy. That's just not right. Especially versus some old geez. McIlroy is the new Sergio. The annointed one who is going to replace Tiger as the world's best golfer. Really? Does anyone really believe that? Does Sergio believe this? I'm not even going to say "we'll see". I'm going to just flat out say "that's ridiculous." Not gonna happen.

This is it for Couples. His last stand. This tournament and the Masters. He plays this layout very, very well. I think Fred wins this easy. No not easy but wins nevertheless.

I disagree, its pretty hard to discredit what Rory has done at such a young age. Not to mention hes played in only 5 majors and has 2 top 10s already. He is the best young player to come out in a very very long time.

This year hes been sick and injured.

although some quotes from his blog..
After Augusta I was back home for ten days and had a bit of a rest and then set to work on my golf with my coach Michael Bannon, who is out here in Houston with me this week, so I feel my swing?s back on track and going in the right direction. I hit balls every day and that?s what I spent the majority of time doing during my break, although it was ten days off I did work pretty hard.

It?s great to be back here in Houston, the golf course is in great shape and is set up really well ? I had a practice round today and I?m really looking forward to getting into the tournament as I feel I?m playing a lot better. So hopefully this week will be a good one and will take me into the Masters in good shape.

When I was back home I had another scan on my back which is still not one hundred percent but things are definitely moving in the right direction so I?m pretty pleased about that.

When I was his age, I remember saying all those same things. "My game's never been better", "My back is feeling 100% now", "I'm working very diligently with my mentor every day", "I'm going to kick Johnny Miller's ass this week", so on and so on. My experience is that really good golfers keep their mouth shut, especially young ones.

Rory McIlroy---

2009 scoring ave. 71.26
2010 scoring ave. 72.38
50% driving--- 184th
GIR 186th
putting 175th

That doesn't look like "setting the world on fire" numbers to me.

Couples 69.38 scoring ave. this year, PGA only. 15 wins. He's over 50 though and he might need a nap.
