Magicians often get looked down upon and/or criticized because it's "not real." Well of course it's not real, that's what makes it fascinating! If they were actually just waving their arms over something Harry Potter-style and making things happen - these kinds of tricks would not be interesting (although they would, of course, be scientifically and theologically fascinating). It's the fact that we all know for certain that they are cheating but we cannot see them doing it that makes it fun.
