Against all odds, the Montreal Al's decided to give the starting running back job to.. Lawrence Phillips! :( instead of Pringle. Talk about a stupid move...:nono:

Pringle has been the horse of that team for so many years and he's among the best running back in the league. By benching him, he'll become the highest salary reservist in the CFL. Phillips left the team after just a few days of training, unhappy with his playing time, and should have been fines. Then, he returned and got the starting job even though Pringle has been superior to him during preseason? what kind of message this organisation is sending?

Pringle will probably ask to be trade (rumours about Saskatchewan or Edmonton) after the first game. In addition, lots of players have been forced to cut their payroll by the GM and guys are quite mad right now... The chemistry isn't as it best for a team that ended last year on a serious losing streak...

My guess is Montreal fans (as i'll do) will boos Phillips this tuesday!

I'm eager to find out the first week lines...

Winnipeg is now back on the West division with the arrival of the Ottawa Renegades.

Here's how i see the West division:

1. Winnipeg: Same team almost of last year. will get the job done this year!

2. Edmonton: Should do as well as last year. Just avoid injuries to their qb's because no depth there!

3. Saskatchewan: Yep, a surprise no? :p I see them much better with Green at Qb.

4. Calgary: The Champ 4th??? Lost many key players during the offseason...

5. Bc Lions: Aging qb will last all season? If their Dee is as good as last year and Damon Allen avoid injuries, they won't finish last in the division but it is a big ?...

East division:

1. Montreal: Yeah, i hear you! They should be, have to, must finish first because ON PAPER, they are the most talented team of the CFL with the Bombers but with what is going on right now with the team...??? I'm not sure anymore of seeing them first...
They could finish as far as third but because i'm an Al's fan, we'll say they'll finish first right? :)

2. Toronto: Joe Monfort to Toronto was the biggest move in the CFL during the offseason. Toronto will have a good Dee and will surprise many!

3. Hamilton: Loss too many key players and it will hurt them...

4. Ottawa: Tough to not put them at the bottom of the division. Brand new team with lack of depth at many positions. Anyhow, should be competitive in 2-3 years...

As soon as i get some lines, we'll start on that new season!

By the way, my pick to win the Grey Cup is the Winnipeg Bombers. After choking last year during the final, they will get the job done this year!

My record last year? I ended 26-10-1 :D

Let's all have another nice season!

Here's my thoughts and season preview...

First of all regarding Montreals decision on Phillips..... at first I was in shock as well.... Then I thought about it.... Don Matthews is totaly changing the offence this year. Instead of running every 2 out of 3 downs they will now be passing 2 out of 3 downs.... Therefore go with Phillips.... he is a better reciever than Pringle and I'm not sure how happy Pringle will be in the new offence with him not being the go to guy... If they don't start Phillips now he'll probably just walk out... I also believe that Montreal may be worried about Pringles health and may think he's prone to injurys after last season... Overall I still think they should have gone with Pringle.... I don't think many of the players like Phillips that much as that is the rumor out there anyways.... About Pringle being traded to Edmonton or Sask.... Not sure Edmonton would go for him as they seem contempt with who they have after getting rid of Davis to Ottawa... And I would love to see him go to Sask (yes I'm a Rider fan :D ) but after hearing the GM's comments on possibly trading to get Davis back a few days ago, all he would say is NO, we will not give up something to get a running back.... we have 4 and we will go with what we got... We'll see what happens though.....

Now here's what I think about the rest:

East Division:

1. Montreal: in what I would call a pretty weak division this year, Montreal should climb to the top with ease. I know it was only pre-season but they still continued to score a ton of points.... and with this new offence they may score even more.... besides this running back controversy I think they are in great shape...

2. Hamilton: like 1837 said the loss of too many key players will hurt them... but I think they will still find a way to win...

3. Toronto: Its true Toronto's D has improved greatly, but what is gonna kill them is their QB... I feel they have the worst starting QB in the league... and in this leauge if you don't have a QB you go no place! Just look at Sask last year... Their D was pretty good and gave up the 2nd least points in the league... but they had no QB therefore couldn't score and finished last in the league... Look for them to finish 3rd and will not make the playoffs...

4. Ottawa: expansion team, not enough depth yet... although I think they did a pretty good job with their picks... they are pretty strong at RB/FB and I think their success will ride on QB Crowley...

West Division:
Now this is a tough division...

1. Winnipeg: should beable to finish on top again as they have kept their team intact, and it is a good one!

2. Edmonton: pretty solid all around....

3. Sask: (my team! :p ) I think they can give Edmonton a challenge for 2nd spot this year but will prob finish 3rd... They gave up the 2nd least amount of points last year... and all those young defensive players are now experienced players.... Plus the addition of Greene gives them an experienced QB that should beable to make up for their weak RB with his own scrambling abilitys....

4. BC: 4th and 5th is really a toss up between Calgary and BC... But i'll give BC 4th.... brought in a few key recievers to help Allen out... not sure why they just dropped Drummond and Benefield though without replacing either with anyone better....

5. Calgary: from Grey cup Champs to last place.... I think they've lost too many talented players especially at reciever.... they've always had great QB's and Recievers.... I think they will struggle this year.

I think the 4th place team in the West will cross over and take the playoff position away from 3rd in the East....

I will predict Winnipeg vs Montreal in the Grey Cup and Winnipeg to win it this year...
