Iona will be without forwards Anthony Bruin and Alejo Rodriguez when it plays Siena on Thursday at Times Union Center.

Bruin, a 6-foot-7 senior from Colonie High, sprained his ankle Monday during a loss to Canisius. He will miss three to six weeks, Iona coach Jeff Ruland said Wednesday.

Bruin is the Gaels? leading scorer and rebounder. He averages 13 points and 6.8 boards.

This is just one more setback in what undoubtedly has been a frustrating season for Bruin. He was to play his last college game in his hometown Thursday.

?That?s tough,? Ruland said. ?Anthony is going to graduate on time, and he?s been a big part of what we?ve done. I feel bad for him. He?s been a trooper. It?s not in his nature to be a leader, because he?s quiet. But he plays hard for me.?

As for Rodriguez, he?s been bothered by a sore back. A 6-8 freshman from Washington Heights, Rodriguez started 12 games, averaging 7.4 points and 6.2 rebounds.

The most recent injuries leave Iona with just seven available scholarship players.
