Alcorn +4 over Siena
Have seen Siena play at least 10 times this yr.They won the MAAC playing 4 games all at home in Albany. If the tourney wasn't at the Pepsi Arena the Saints wouldn't be playing tonite.
Saints on the road were terrible winning only 6 games all yr.They lost to teams like Fairfield and Canisius and barly beat Loy-Md and St peters on the road.
Archbold is their stud.he started out on fire and then hit a mid-season slump and now is back to form again. At 6'5 he is a tough player to defend.Karawanga at 6'7 plays the pt now and can be spectacular at times or bad at other times.Price is back at gd and Clinton,Miller, and Cavo are front ct players with some size. But all 3 are slow.
Siena plays tough half ct defense and is 8th in the nation in FG% defense.Lanier plays 8 or 9 people so he has depth. But they still have no true pt gd.Kara has done a good job the past few games with price replacing him.
Never saw Alcorn St play so its hard to compare. But they have won 21-25,have greyhounds all over.Fleming is their stud at 6'8 and I don't think Siena has anyone to stop him.Harper is 6'8 and Cook comes off the bench at 6'10.Jackson is a slasher at 6'6 and avg's 10 pts.
I think the braves playing their fast breaking style and pressure defense and trapping might cause the saints some problems.
Alcorn is returning all 5 starters from last yr.They are more athletic and much quicker.Siena is bigger and with 2 big gds could cause match up problems.
I know a lot has been said about the Alcorn trip to Dayton.Siena has the fresher legs, etc. C'mon, this is the big dance.Once that ref throws up that jump ball...... . .. forget about it.Alcorns kids have been here before a few yrs ago and they gave stanford a game.
I'll take the +4 pts and the kids from Mississippi.
