Firstly, sorry Crooky for posting in new thread. I didn't know if you were going to continue in last weeks or start a new one. I was waiting for you to post but I know work commitments only allow a ceertain amount of free time.

Sorry for this advice, I know their your home Country, but I just can't see any other result.

England vs. Wales

England come off a low-key performance. England's main concern from last week's game against France was that their front row were unable to control their own scrum, however you must take into account that France are a quality team, not something you could say about Wales.

The scrummaging won't be a problem for England here, alongwith the lineout, England's backs will see plenty of the ball. That being the case, England should run up some points. Wales were appauling last week, they were poor in the lineout, their recycling was non existence and without any control in set play and second in the race for open field possession the backs had no chance against Italy. Although Wales were criticized for last weeks performance, their backs had to play behind a retreating and listless pack. All said and done, make no mistake these Welsh backs are no match at all for their England counterparts.

Conceding another huge possession advantage against a side as expansive and dangerous as England should see a near record score in this game.

ENGLAND WIN and win big.

The handicap is 24 points. Play for 2 points @ 10/11

Derek,

Dont know if you had a night on the town before writing this thread, but there is certainly not a line of 24 for England, or at least I have not seen one!!

Passing on this weekend, but I like the ACT Brumbies off scratch tomorrow morning, having won on the Highlanders today.

I took 24 with Canbet this morning (Friday) and Stan James had 24 until about 11.45 am (Friday), although 5/6 with S.J.

26 is the next best I've seen, and that's with plenty.

Don't question my odds when I post or my handicap spreads. If only one book has the line I will not post those, as it is clearly out of line with industry and instead of standard 10/11 or 5/6, the odds will be more in the region of 8/13 or 4/7. I only post prices etc when I know they are available from at least two sources.

Anyway I would still take any line of 26 because England have a statement to make, especially to the Irish. I can see England putting in excess of 40 points on the board and Wales not crossing the try line. So 5 successful penalties will be needed minimum.

Since posting previous thread I have spent the last 30 minutes surfing the net for handicap spread for Wales vs. England.

Well low and behold, I can't get 24??? or have you drinking before posting.

Well look

England to win by 13 or more NZ TAB

England - 25.5 Sportsbet

England -24.5 Centrebet

Last two are 10/11 and no possible ties. I know 25.5 is not 24 but with no draw only one extra point s difference needed in game, on the other hand 24.5 is the same as 24 because to win on the bet you need the difference to be 25.

I was wondering if anyone had a view on the Framce Scotland game as none of the games have been shown here in Australia and the highlights package was very limited on last weeks games. Are France still improving and are Scotland as bad as they seem?

Pumpkin, I am probably not one to comment much on the rugby as my tip on England went astray.

France are a formidable side at home and Scotland have made some progress. Members like Crooky and Hoss have a far better understanding of the game than me.

Now on to the bad news, although England won as expected, they failed to cover the spread of the handicap. Several reasons for this.

1. Wales once again upped their game. It's surprising how one week they perform poorly, but when the world ranked No.1 come to town, their forwards play the game of their lives. The Welsh drive and passion kept them going forward and it was hard at times to turn them around.

2. The Welsh players were constantly in the English players faces.

3. To put it bluntly England were CRAP.

4. But my biggest grape was Wales continued to spoil the game around the ruck, by coming in from the side and handling. This slowed the game up and made in a stop start game which was in the favour of the Welsh.
But fair play to Crooky and his Country men, they played to their strengths and that is all you can ask of one's Country.

Although I'm dissappointed in the result, I take heart from the fact that I said Wales would not cross the English try line. Only the inability of the English to put points on the board after being on the back foot for the first 15 minutes, the forward play by the Welsh and the persistant spoiling around the ruck mean't I had to sit through a boring game of Rugby.

Result on the day LOSS OF 2 POINTS
