With Italy and Paraguay playing to a draw today, Slovakia has a great opportunity to gain an early advantage with a win over New Zealand. The Kiwis are made up of players mostly from the Australian A-League, the lower leagues in England and New Zealand's amateur leagues, and two players are without a club. We all saw the hurting Germany placed on Australia and Slovakia has a chance to do the same here. With goal differential being a determining factor in who moves on, I think Slovakia will not leave this one to chance.

They might be happy to just reach the World Cup for the first time since 1982, when they went 0-3.

New Zealand's qualification was made even easier when rival Australia switched from the Oceania region to Asia after the last World Cup to face stiffer competition.

The move paid off for New Zealand, which went 5-1-0 in a qualifying group that included New Caledonia, Fiji and Vanuatu before beating Bahrain 1-0 on aggregate in a playoff on forward Rory Fallon's goal.
