Ooh la la!! The thread nobody has been waiting for! And 4 people will read (and, frankly, that's more than it deserves).

Ok, maybe my one and only posted play in tennis. going with... drum roll please... Zhizhen Zhang +155.

Dammit, I already lied to you. Adding a second play.... although it's the same match... Zhizhen to win at least 2 sets -135.

I would not advise wagering more than $200K on these selections. As has been demonstrated, I may not be the best tennis bettor.

wow, i'm really off this morning. Zhizhen to win at least 2 sets is -105. At that price... maybe $300K or $400K is ok. No more than $500K.

what the fuck is this bullshit???? zhang won the first 6-1 and was up a break in the 2nd... and lajovic quit??? well, that shits all over my bet for zhang to win at least 2 sets, which was my larger bet. they'd better still pay me for zhang winning.

nope, both bets are cancelled. that is some bullshit.

Some Sportsbook will pay out a winner on the "who wins the match" betting line if one set is completed. At some two sets must be completed and others the match has to be completed for bets to stand. Sometimes the rule can work in your favour (Canadian spelling), and sometimes it does not.

2 down, 2 to go. not a great start to the 3rd set though. SW down a break, then up 40-15 to get that break right back... but he couldn't come through.

3 down, 1 to go. SW's first ever 5-set match. i almost hope he loses, just so i can make more money betting against medvedev this tournament.

that is the most backhanded compliment i've ever received. ouch.

and you are welcome for that +900 winner. :0008

one of the very rare times i gleaned insight from a sports announcer that helped me win money. medvedev still sucks on clay. he was hugely flattered by the rain-soaked clay in rome.

1. Ummmm.....we all know hedgehog is number 1, he can't be touched.

2. Smitty is all cocky and shit now:facepalm:

3. For the record that "announcer" that said that was Robbie Koenig, a former player who reached a career high of 262 in singles and 28 in doubles.

and... what's your point? TB12, who some claim is a god in football pads, is going to be an absolutely horrible announcer. not sure if you have this expression in canada, but down here we say "those who can, do. those who can't, teach." assuming it was robbie... he taught me something. and he's absolutely correct, until medvedev proves he can win on a dry clay court. he was absolutely horrible today. he still can't hit a shot while sliding.

and i prefer to think it was jim courier who said that. but, honestly, i have no idea a) who said it and b) who the other guy with jim courier is/was.

one last point... while i don't believe i ever received a national ranking, if i did, it was certainly worse than 262 and 28. although i was #6 on my HS team in singles, and #1 in doubles. :0074 we did have a guy who went on to play on the satellite tour. this was... my god, a long time ago. very early 90's.

sadly, i've used up what little insight i have on this tournament. betting on Zhizhen Zhang and betting against Medvedev was about all I had. I think I saw Zhizhen at -165, so I'll bet him again. And I have my bet on Alcaraz to win the tournament. Bet it at +135. He was up to at least +160 shortly before the tournament, which I took as a bad sign. Back down to +140 now.

thinking about a small bet on Rune at +900. but, seriously, how many +900 bets can I hit in one tournament?

smitty, currently the world's greatest tennis bettor, signing off.

1. For the record, Robbie Koenig is one of the best ever when it comes to tennis commentating and insights, the guy is an absolute stud. And he was a hell of a player back in the day, making semi finals of a Grand Slam is pretty damn good (he made semis in 1998 US Open), not as good as playing High School tennis, but still pretty good.

2. Playing Top 6 on a High School tennis team works out to about a 261 in the world, so you did better then Robbie Koenig, well done by you:0074

3. Anybody can go play Futures/Satellites (last Satellite tourney took place in 1994), you can be blind and have one leg and enter into one of those tournaments qualifying draws. The question is if you can win a match or not. So to recap, it means shit if somebody played in em or not. Also kickserv played in those tournaments and won one match and lost nine hundred, so yep kickserv fucking rules because he won a match :00hour

4. You forgot about Yannick Hanfmann:shrug:

5. Smitty needs to widen all doorways in his home, his head no longer fits through em:shade:

1. ah, ok, i thought you were saying koenig was a bum. i don't remember him as a player, but he seems very solid in the booth.

2. i'm blushing.

3. i just looked him up. per atptour.com, he reached a career-best ranking of 986 on 4/18/94. so he was top 1,000! travis boyd. two things i remember... he had a 2-handed forehand and he was a righty, but played a few games lefty against me once and still kicked my ass.

4) hanfmann is yesterday's news. he may fall behind sinner in my all-time yannick/yannik rankings.

5) don't be ridiculous. i just butter up my head and get a running start.

nice to hear you're aboard the zhizhen train. you think he has a shot against ruud, assuming they both win?.

did you happen to catch that monfils/baez match yesterday? hell of an effort, but hard to believe monfils will have anything left in the tank for rune.
