...and then I woke up and thought What The Hell Am I Thinking??? I want to take Dallas, as 8-point road favorites?? Have I lost my mind?

How long has it been since Dallas covered a spread this large on the road? Looked it up....

It's been 3 years since the Cowboys have been more than a TD road favorite.

Oct 10/99 - Week 5 - Dal -10 @ Phil. Philly won outright 13-10.

Gotta go back two more years to find the next-most-recent time they were favored by more than 7 on the road.

Oct 5/97 - Week 6 - Dal -7? @ NYG. NYG won outright 20-17.

Four weeks earlier:

Sept 7/97 - Week 2 - Dal -10? @ Ariz. Ariz won outright 25-22.

The previous year:

Dec 8/96 - Week 15 - Dal -9? @ Ariz. Dal won 10-6, failing to cover.

Back further...

Nov 24/96 - Week 13 - Dal -9 @ NYG. NYG won outright 20-6.

Keep digging....

Christmas Day, 1995.....Dallas won @ Ariz 37-13, as 10 point favorites. Hey, it IS possible. The 'Boys won the Superbowl a month later.

Long drought!

Yes, Houston is bad....but is anyone this bad that they can't cover this spread, vs this team, @ home? I guess we'll find out.

i think giving 8 points in week one of the season ...is ridiculous...Dallas isnt anything to write home about especially on the road...But how far away on the road are they vs. tEXAS???...regardless this line is interesting..cooz

I took Dallas -4 at Hampton this moring and took Houston +8 at Infinity this evening. Hope to get a Cowboy 7 point victory. This could start the season out right!!:)

It takes guts to win betting on the NFL. You have to bet on a lot of unpopular teams....teams that if you bet on them, people will look at you like you've lost your mind.

I don't know what could be more unpopular than taking an expansion team in their first game against America's Team. Cowboys' lines are always inflated anyways, because of the huge swell of support they always get. This looks like a prime example.

Still, expansion teams HAVE done poorly in their initial outings in recent years. I still don't know if I will pull the trigger on the Texans, but I have this gnawing feeling it's the right thing to do.

Good luck on your middle there Rudogg...a 4-point middle is a rarity, you got some nice #'s there.

Final Score: Pittsburgh 43 Cleveland 0

The Browns first game back as an expansion team. I think a strong comparison can be made to this week's Dallas @ Houston game.

Dallas should win easily.

The Dallas D is tough and could hold the Texans to less than 10 pts, but with Qunicy "sucks" Carter at QB, I don't know that they could beat the Little Giants by 8 pts. Should be a 24-10 game, but with the current offense, could be 17-13. Just not sure. 8-8, here we come!

Im not to big on betting on "my team" im going to tease this game down to -1 and watch the cowboys contol this game.....u heard it here first DALLAS will make the playoffs THIS YEAR !!!!! But past trends tell us that a road fav of more than 7 pts in the first week doesnt cover usually.....but dallas defense is strong and i think they pressure Carr into alot of trouble.....
