Sure hope that idiot Danny Snyder hires Spurrier. Can you see the team plane on a flight home from the west coast after the Skins have lost to the Chargers, and little Danny throws a fit and tries to get into Spurrier's face? I'd pay good money to see that one!

So Cal
Have to agree with you on that one, redsfann. i cannot imagine any situation that would work with two guys having egos the size of the sun. should lead to a few laughs.

ESPN's Chris Mortenson just reported that Marty Schottenheimer has been fired and Steve Spurrier will be named coach of the Washington Redskins. Also, Tony Dungy is being fired and Bill Parcells will be named Caoch of the Bucs in the next two weeks.

So Schottenheimer will get the remaining 7.5 million of his original 10 million dollar contract. Basically, 10 million for one year of work. I believe that will make him the highest paid coach in history. And all he had to do was put up with Daniel Snyder for one year.

Marty played Daniel like a violin! :violin:

4 coaches in a little over a year, to be exact.

I am a huge Skins fan and I just don't know how to feel about this. I think Spurrier will be successful eventually, but it is much different when you can't just go recruit the best athletes, and kids are dying to come play for you like they were in FLA. I just feel like it is 2 steps back to move 1 step forward since there will need to be some big personnel changes in order to run a Spurrier type offense. Roster overhaul, AGAIN! Should be interesting to have "the visor" on the sidelines.

Monk, consider the $$ he will pay to Marty, Deion and Spurrier next year!!! WOW!! I believe he is on the hook for the assistant coaches salaries for 2 years too. Not sure on that.

Makes you wonder how Snyder's companies ever made any money?!

What are the odds that Spurrier would have recruited and started a QB like Banks at Florida?

The Redskins dont have a high draft pick and the offense is the anti-Spurrier type; poor QB and WRs and power running.

I'm a steelers fan true and true but live in the dc area and have season tix to the redskins. Marty should not have been fired! He finished the last 11 games at 8-3 after the team started buying into his system. A coach doesn't change a team overnight.

Spurrier has been a great college coach but can he do it in the pro's?? It's a different animal. Bottom line - Snyder is runnin this team in the ground and old jack kent cooke must be rolling around in his grave (may he rest in peace).

It must be tough to go 8-8 after that 0-5 start and get canned! Hell I feel for old Marty just a little, like you said 10 million for one year I'll bet he feels like he hit the lottery!

I think Spurrier will either Whip this ship into shape in a hurry, or Snyder will be giving him 25 million for one years worth of work! Steve is a great coach ( I can say that now because he's out of the SEC, War Eagle ) and a man of his ability should'nt have to put up with a snot nosed rich punk like Snyder if he has a bad game or two. Give him a chance and the freedom he needs and he'll be great in the NFL too. Jerk his chain and treat him like Marty and he'll probably take over at Vandy in a year or two!

Like the rest of you this is just my opinion, and well I took Nebraska!
