From the signings that they made this summer, it always seemed to me that city was more interested in fielding a team capable of beating Barcelona and Munich as opposed to West Brom and Crystal Palace. They picked up wingers with world class speed, athletic center backs and got rid of Dzeko. That why it's been frustrating to watch them try and break down defensive teams as those wingers are better in space and when they do get a cross off into the box, Aguero and Silva aren't the best target men.
And Everton isn't Barcelona, but they will be at home and will have pressure to get a win to take to the next leg in Manchester. They'll have to attack and city will look much more formidable in their own attack. Also no need for Everton to worry about an away goal as they don't factor in this competition.
