I've floated this idea around a couple of places and would like some opinions from the folks here at MadJacks. Since 1990 I have kept detailed records on my wagering (encrypted of course), so I could look for trends in my own selections and the selections of others. I chart everything by source (personal, Nolan Dalla, IE, etc) and also by league (NBA, MLB, NFL). The charts are very helpful since humans are visual beasts.

I've been using spreadsheets, but the past few years they have become very unwieldy due to the volume of information they now contain. I'm working on a program to perform these functions and use ACCESS as my database instead of spreadsheets.

I'm committed to completing this project and am wondering if any other folks would find this useful (as shareware).

Its a great idea. From what you are saying I think you are writing the code in access. I have couple questions:
-Is it more like representing the stat w/ charts or is it trying to spot the trends. Or it could be searching the stats for given trends.
How do you input the stats? I have started entering the stats and scores in an excel sheet before but gave up every time because of the time it takes. Some websites offer decent stats so I am using those for now. Thought about a way to automize the inputting process w/ a macro in excel but the format that they post the stats is making this hard.

If you are witing code in access you are probably ahead of me in coding. I dont know how can a be a help but would like to.

Alien,

I'm actually coding in Visual Basic, just using ACCESS as the database.

The first version will merely track won-loss results based upon source and league, with charts. Future versions may include tendencies with dogs/favs/away/home, that kind of stuff. I have to keep it simple to start. It WILL keep track of account balances at various outs so you can check your balance against the book.

Madjack or Moderator,

This forum is well run and it is great how you keep flaming and shilling to a minimum.

I totally agree with the spirit of your no advertising policy and I understand you want to protect readers from spam. I also think that if I want to risk being spammed I should be allowed to post my e-mail address.

Respectfully yours,
Gart

Visual Basic is a great tool - easy to learn and the code is simple to read.

If you want any sample codes for reading Access data in all kinds of ways, I have plenty of them.

Fell free to ask.

I am so late responding again. I have been spending my time on the playoffs, I forgot about this thread.
Skinar I am working on an excel macro that will give me the trends by looking at the matchup scores of 2 team, along with that It will also have teams last dozen games and it will use that info as well.
It is not working yet. Maybe it will never work but it has been helping me to have the scores of the certain matchups infront of me any ways.
Its complecated to get the macro to find the trends. So I am doing what the macro was supposed to the myself.
I was wondering what is out there and if anyboby else has spent time on the Software idea.
