Can word files saved from windows 8 operating system on a usb drive be easily read on windows 10?
Or are there issues on a windows 10 OS?

Generally there aren't any issues between the two. If you save a document as a .doc instead of a .docx you will have a better rate of reading the file between different versions of MS Word - the OS shouldn't account for anything. The MS Word version might.
