For all the horse bettors, I have a very good follow up on Friday. As in harness racing, trips mean a lot, but even with a bad trip, this horse has a chance to get a piece. A decent trip gets a win....this horse could be "live."
MEADOWLANDS, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 19TH, RACE #9:
#7 LEGEND HALL....WIN, PLACE, and SHOW
What it comes down to in this race is the fact that this horse was ready to go last week and even though legendary driver John Campbell worked out a perfect pocket trip, he was locked in with no place to go the entire stretch at the Meadowlands and ended up a dismal 7th.
The Barn that Legend Hall is trained and owned by has been starting to heat up with trainer Sheddan at around a 19% win percentage which is extremely good and with Legend Hall just starting to make his return to the races after about a 3+ month layoff, he should continually get tighter. The connections tipped off his livelyness last week when he became the betting favorite in his 3rd start back to go along with the legendary driver John Campbell in the sulky only to have absolutely no room to get out in the stretch.
This is just a classic "lock in" play that usually hits at a high percentage and even though nothing is a lock in harness racing, I expect a good trip with Cambell driving once again. Will try a Win, Place, and Show bet on this one.
Below is an actual picture of the finish and you can see Legend Hall still locked in with the pocket trip(the #5 horse) at the wire.
This race took absolutely nothing out of him as far as fatigue goes, so I'm looking at this last race as just one more tightener and expect him to be fresh and ready to go in this one.
Win or lose, I'll continue to post any potential follow up plays this winter at the Big M.
Good luck
