Several months back I started a thread where I mentioned that I was starting a real estate development company focused on residential development. Many here provided great insight with their responses to my questions regarding whether they loved where they lived and if so why, if there were other places they liked that they knew of or had previously lived, and what qualities were most important to them when deciding where to live.

I have now moved forward with the company and have a new website which tells my story. It is in the final beta stage and if anyone has the time and desire I would apprecaite your taking a look at the site and giving me your comments on the look of the site, the content, whether or not you think it accomplishes its purpose, etc. and any other advice you may have as to improvement. You can respond here or through the website if you prefer. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Nice content. I have limited website design expirence, mostly I'm a Marketing guy. So please take my comments with that in mind.

It is very easy to follow the train to thought. The site "flows" smoothly form concept to contact.

I believe it accomplishes your goal. It makes the residents "take ownership" and makes them feel important and involved. Whether or not you actually take thier advice, they will feel like a part of the community.

The arcitechtuial feel and layout is overused. The layout is ideal for you but it reminds me of a bad Microsoft Word Resume. I don't think the effect will be the same for others, but for me the lines looked cheap and formatted. I can see where you are trying to go, but thinner lines and a sharper image would make you look more professional. IMHO

Do you have a logo? Are you planning on using the Times bold MSP as your logo? I'm a huge believer in branding (see MKT reference above). A rock (plymoth), a shield (discovers), a compass (my choice), or some patriotic object to brand your company will help people remember your name. You should use a logo form day 1 and keep it at least 5 years for branding. Look around at successful companies and thier logos (Merril Lynch, Allstate, your local minor-league team) if you need help.

Color scheme is just as important as logo. The colors you have chosen will attract an older (50 something) crowd. Grey, Tan, and Burg are not attractive and lively colors. They seem to counter the excitement of a new development. I suggest Copper, Cream, and a shade of Blue. Copper is very popular with 30-somethings (ideal customer) plus it is featured in many statues (like the ones you have pictured). Cream is a lighter version of the tan that you are using and gives a neutral tone. Cream can be used in your branding as a background from everything from wall color to stationery. Blue is the color of home. Blue invokes feelings of relaxation and tranquility.

Overall: Good site & Good luck

"...Quo fas et gloria ducunt..."
i was gonna add, yes, what demographic are you aiming for?

agreeing with Blazer on that one...that the color scheme made it feel like i was reading a website about pioneer history......

maybe you wanna spruce it up a bit with a bit of FLASH?

or maybe some cutting edge graphics?

how about some back buttons?

again, just my two cents worth.

other than that...you get your point across.:)

I am going to disagree with the color scheme cahnge. I like the colors that were used because he is going for a pioneering feel. I believe that is the whole basis of him trying to start this company.

My guess is that your target market would be 27-35 singles and married w/ no children couples.

Good luck.

Blazer, Toronto & Dawgball,

Thanks very much for the input, particularly Blazer for the very thoughtful and detailed comments. If you only knew how much time I spent on choosing those colors........

Generally this is a text driven site, the message is the important thing that has to sell the concept so I deliberately downplayed the graphics end of it.

Glad all three of you got the gist of what I was saying and am trying to accomplish. If everyone had liked the design but didn't understand or grasp the message I would be sunk. I will take the design concepts under consideration though.

Thanks again for you help.
