Should be interesting to see how junior Chavez makes weight. Maybe he dropped some baby fat, or maybe he will enjoy a scale "made in Mexico" again. I think he beats Lee, but price is a tad steep. Liking Scott Quigg and Tomasz Adamek. Think both numbers will leak up on these two. Both fights to go many rounds.

He cut his hair short so that should help lol.

Actually, silly as it may sound, that may be a sign he is getting serious about this stuff. Out of the gate I never really liked this kid as his dad was smoothing out all the humps and the bumps and it was all smooth sailing. I believe he got a HUGE gift versus Zbik so it soured me. But, in spite of all that, I think he is improving and maturing. We shall see. Look forward to hearing your opinions this coming weekend. Oh yea, good article in Vegas paper. Mayweather wants to go home and do house arrest. Says jail sucks.

andy lee looks so frail

one drop from being broken china on the floor

keep betting jr until he loses

I got a trifecta with Adamek/Quigg/Junior. Chambers hasn't fought in 16 months. Adamek ALWAYS comes to fight. Quigg is the up and comer; and if Junior is on weight, he will man handle Lee. And I think Junior can take a punch also.

Andy Lee breakdown

Andy Lee breakdown

I agree with Thong, eventhough Andy Lee is one of the biggest middleweights in the division, standing 6'2" and usually with a rehydration of around 173 pounds, something about him seems frail, but at the same time he's shown toughness. I'd like to excuse his poor performance against Craig McEwan, despite the come from behind victory, to the fact that Manny Steward wasn't working his corner that night, but the fact of the matter is before McEwan gassed, Lee was getting rocked, countered, and at one point pretty close to being stopped by a guy who isn't very good and isn't known to have power. Lee's defense is just as atrocious as Junior's, but in a slugfest, it seems Junior's chin is the winner. Junior always has and probably always will catch flack, but as he's grown into his body and transformed from a lanky welterweight into a monster of a "middleweight" he's used his size well to bully opponents. It's one of his best assets, and I don't see Andy Lee being able to handle Junior's size.

Don't rate Martinez as high as most but he would have no problems beating Jr. In fact any legit guy who can move would have no problem beating Jr.

Jr. just a decent durable plodder.

Chavez will break Lee down

Chavez will break Lee down

Lee can crack with the left but he has been quite protected. His best wins came against McEwan and a rematch with Brian Vera. McEwan is overrated and was coming off a close bout with aged Danny Perez in which he barely slipped by. And for most of the rounds, McEwan looked like Pernell Whitaker against Lee until getting caught. Junior has a chin and he's getting better every time out. Chavez will rough Lee up, staying close to him and all in all giving him a miserable night. At this point Chavez is probably the most likely champ that Lee could beat, which is why he's getting the shot, but Junior is simply too strong.

Junior is a big sob to be sure. But I'd say more importantly I truly believe he has made a serious commitment to boxing as his profession/way of life now. Some guys get old over night, and maybe some guys grow up over night. The DUI and the AA meetings may have been a blessing in disguise. I think we see an improved junior, and this is coming from a guy that did not like him one bit for some time now.

Adamek/Chambers

Adamek/Chambers

This one has the potential to be a draw, to some extent. Fight is expected to go the distance and both guys are durable. I like Adamek here, but at +2200, draw ain't too shabby.

Adamek/Chambers; quote....from Chambers.

Adamek/Chambers; quote....from Chambers.

"My first thought was that I should not fight Adamek for my first fight back after 14 months off, but then I talked with my friends and trainers and we decided that this would be a good move for me. Show everyone right away that I am back and that I mean business.? First off, its been 16 months, not 14. An old saying, "if there is any doubt, there is no doubt". If you look at the pics from the press conference, Chambers looks like a boy standing next to Adamek. I like Adamek even more in light of what I am seeing and hearing.

Texas is a state that has been mired in boxing controversy in recent years, but that doesn't seem to concern their commission officials enough to make them ensure a level playing field, apparently.

Moments ago at the weigh-in for tomorrow's WBC middleweight championship fight between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and top contender Andy Lee, representatives of Lee requested to weigh both camp's gloves.

That request was denied by Texas Commission Sports Inspector Robert Tapia.

"They brought their own gloves and we brought ours," explained Lee's manager, Perry Mandera, "so we thought in the interest of full disclosure and a level playing field, we would weigh both pairs. We weighed ours out in the open in front of everyone. They would not put theirs on the scale. So, I requested Robert Tapia to make them do it. He told me 'I'm the boss here. I say whether or not we inspect the gloves and we're not going to.'"

Mandera says he then requested Chavez trainer Freddie Roach to weigh the gloves in the spirit of fairness. "He pushed past me and said 'we don't have to, so we're not going to.'"

Lee's team say after today's incident, they are left hoping there won't be any other questionable conduct surrounding this fight.

"We just want everything fair. I don't know why they wouldn't drop the gloves on a scale to remove any doubt about a pair of gloves they brought themselves. Yes, it's a new pair, but you ever buy a pair of shoes that say size 10 and they're not? That's all we were trying to resolve. So why won't they weigh the gloves?"

-> Maybe turning my over into a double chance here ;-)

Ah yes, another Texas fiasco. I always thought the weight of gloves had to be certified, same oz. size for both guys? Is this some sort of scam or what? If they weight them immediately after the fight they will be soaked with sweat, so it would be inaccurate. They would have to wait a day or two to dry them out in the Texas sun. WTF!
