1ST ANNUAL MVP INVITATIONAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of playing in the 1st annual MVP Sportsbook golf tournament held at the beautiful Marriott Golf Resort in Los Suenos Costa Rica.
This was an invitation only event as quite a few of the top professional sports handicappers in the country trekked down to Costa Rica to take part in this soon to be historic event.
The morning of the tournament I awoke to find the weather to not only very hot but also very humid. As I put on my required black MVP PING golf shirt I began to wonder if black was a good choice for such sweltering heat. I already had my first suggestion for next year tournament. As I found out later this would be my only suggestion as this was by far the best tournament I have ever been a part of.
I quickly learned upon arrival to the course that we were divided into teams and we would be competing for prizes. After asking my playing partners about their golf skill level, I knew my 20 handicap was going have to play like a 10 in order to compete. Needless to say when we had the opportunity to lay a bet on any of the teams, ours was not even considered.
Upon learning of the invitation to this tournament I had a discussion with Bobby XXXXXXXXXX regarding the golfing talent by these top handicappers. We did come to the conclusion that if these handicappers were in fact really good at their profession then they should be much less talented at hitting a little white ball as that skill requires a lot of practice time. I can't name one capper who is really good capping and has the time for golf.
Well our conclusion ended up becoming true as these handicappers were for the most part, horrible golfers. There was one that was outstanding but I won't name him as to not taint his handicapping service. My team along with my 20 handicap held up for second place. The aforementioned outstanding golfer and his team did win first place.
MVP was considerate enough to hire some of the best looking Costa Rican women to accompany us on the course. So we had much more beautiful things to look at than our very ugly swings.
After the tournament we met at the 19th hole for libations and awards. It was a wonderful time and an event that should be a goal of every handicapper out there to be a part of.
