Since I am not a wizard with words like Nick Douglas or other members of this site I doubt I will persuade those who would shop anyway but as a member of UFCW I am personally asking those southern california members here to not cross the picket line and shop at the top 3 chains, Safeway/Albertsons and Ralphs. Since I work 6 days and have no family I am not under the burden many others are especially in regards to health care which is the major issue here. They want to transfer a huge amount unto us and it would make it impossible for many to get by. It would effect those who have already retired who do not get a cost of living increase in the pension. It would effect those who only get part time hours which can vary from high 20s to mid 30s and many work lower tier scales so people who work 5-6 days full time are in the minority. Strike day appears to be this Saturday but a Federal Mediator is coming so perhaps the day might be pushed back for further negiotiation. Either way, when it does happen I humbly ask fellow SoCal MadJack members to honor the line. Thanks...
