The commentators and TV crew didn't do a good job covering it, but there was a penalty. After showing the SF celebration they briefly cut back to the ref confirming the result but it was at the tail end so you didn't hear the full explanation.

A flag was thrown, but the Fox television coverage was focused on the celebration. Much later the Fox studio crew showed the highlight of the near block and even they were not yet clued in that a flag had been thrown.
