Hey. Are any of you degens into sports cards.

I bought some stupid cards on Instagram a few weeks ago. My kids fired me up during the NCAA tournament on vacation, and I spent way too much. Now, I'm wondering what the market is to sell these things, and if anyone on here has experience in this field for advice on things like:

Best place to sell
Best place to buy
Best place to find proper valuations
Tips and strategies

Etc
etc

Let me know if anyone is selling cards. My son over the past year has really gotten into it and he loves going through them. I?d be willing to buy stuff for him. Thanks!

No need to go to card shows brother. eBay is the only safe place.

Card Shows, Flea Markets, online auctions are all good places to look for things. Do your homework if you are looking at it as an investment. Ebay "SOLD" listings are the best place to look up values. Players have over 100 rookie cards these days while in the pre modern era they had 1. Grading is very important so when buying look for the best condition at the best price. Don't fall for the "shiny" bright object on new cards. Look at the failures in quarterbacks over the past 10 years. Best example is Andrew Luck. The real thing, but no Super Bowls, and left the game early due to injuries. :0008

Maybe BOX AND ONE will reprint his Juan Samuel story as an example. LOL

eBay just has the big fees and tax forms for big sales. But, yeah, safest i guess.

I have a curry rookie, a curry zebra, Brady auto, Durant zebra, Herbert. Nothing crazy, but a few solid ones between $1500-$7000

Buckwheat lol glad you remember that story Last week on my facebook account had a former student message me and said MR. Box I still have that Juan Samuel Card . Is it worth anything. I had to inform him unfortunately not.
That was my get rich scheme . Bought from Rothmans Card company cases and cases of Juan Samuels cards. He was going to be the next Willie Mays .. Power steal bases etc. Well that didn't work but when I became Principal at my HS students were forging hall and bathroom passes . That's when the Juan Samuel card passes went into effect. I still have about 200-300 left but I spent back then over $300-400 on them :mj07:
Actually baseball cards are coming back this year. I buy pokemon cards for my grandson in Philadelphia who collects and trades them. But Barnes and Noble ,Target Walmart put them behind the counter and limit buying packs because they get stolen . I haven't checked on the Beckett prices in years. I still have my 1953 Mickey Mantle in mint condition on the front. Even cut ,white borders no creases. But on the backside about 1/3 of the back is ruined. I took that card to college and put it on my locker with some kind of putty . It traveled to all my dorms and apartments at North Texas. But I still have a lot of the 1956-57 stars. Those were the horizontal tops cards.
thanks Buck for remembering my Juan Samuel I told the story here a long time ago. We always took about 100 of our at risk incoming freshmen to a summer camp for a weekend. I went every year and usually the HS principal never went . When out bus returned after the team building trip I gave every kid a Juan Samuel card . It was kind of a " get out of jail card " Over the years students would cash it in and all my teachers understood what the card was. Then leaving school one day at the end of the year a senior met me in the parking lot and was crying. He was told by his guidance councilor that he wouldn't be allowed to take part in the graduation ceremony coming up because he lost 2 or 3 texts books and couldn't pay for them . Then he reached in his wallet and pulled out a Juan Samuel card and said " can I cash this in. I took the card and told him don't worry about the books ' your walking". A few days latter in my office the secretaries are helping me put all the diploma's together. When I got to him I inserted the Juan Samuel card in his diploma. I could see him among the 300-400 graduates raise his diploma in the crowd / After the ceremony his parents came up to me and thanked me. I had tears in my eyes but this kid carried that card in his wallet for 4 years .. And tonight I can't even remember that kids name. dam getting old again thanks Buck for bringing back a nice memory
