Sports pagers

Anyone out there have a decent sports pager? Bought one off Ebay this fall for $80 that I am not 100% pleased with. It has no lifetime charges ever, and updates every 2.5 minutes - ok those are the good things. The bad thing is that for some reason the display is all funked out, and never aligns correctly on the pager like it shows on the Sportsnow web site. It updates fine, but looks like crap. Guy tells me it is the model pager, I am inclined to believe him.

Anyone have one they really like? I want to buy one like this that has one charge once and thats it.

i believe the Sports Now pager is supposed to be the best service in the biz. Dunno about the style of pager you bought b/c I've never been in the market for one. I use my cell phone to get sms sports updates through my Nokia mobile phone. This particular sports service is made possible by Yahoo. Instead of delivering to my yahoo email acct., I have forwarded the information to my mobile phone email address. It has been a lifesaver

i have had the sportsnow pager for 3 years it costs me 450 dollars a year.i have had the same problem your having with the scrambled letters and no scoreboard.i was told by the company there working on the problem and they will not charge me for the last month.so hang in there i think your pager will work just fine once sportsnow fixes there signal.good luck for 80 dollars you cant go wrong its the fastest pager on the market.sorry jack i wont post again i just wanted to share what i know about the pager.

Jim, does it have numbers like 26: at the top of each page? That is the problem I am having, seems to be like a message slot number for the pager. I was going to throw it out, but if this is the same problem you are having and it is going to be fixed, that is good news.

phil-i got so pissed with my d.j. franks sportsnow pager i to went on e-bay and bought the same pager you bought does yours say airtouch.the real pager is still not working and yes the messages are the same as the sportsnow lets just keep our fingers crossed and we will be able to tell when d.j. franks fixes its signal.i figured what the heck fo 80 bucks ill take a chance.the real sportsnow pager was good for me for over 3 years its no doubt the fastest pager on the market but it was expensive 450 a year and if you wanted to get the handicappers section that was 200 dollars a month can you believe that.ill let you know when my sportsnow pager is back to normal.beantownjim

Yes mine says Airtouch on it, I was going to throw it out because the numbers (26:, 32: etc) at the top of each message keep jumbling up the rest of the page. It is only mildly agrevating but just bugs me enough that I dont use it. I think that the numbers at the top of each page are actually something that is hardcoded into the pager and may or may not be able to be changed. I've been told that buying a new pager and tuning it to the freq on the back of the pager may help. My pager says 9x9.7x75 - I put the xs in but does yours have the same thing?

How do you read the moves section? For example

+800 3Bos 2Duk

Is that just how much a capper is up, with a 3 star play on boston and 2 on Duke?

phil-did you notice the pager was working o.k. today.they charge big bucks per month for thESE handicappers picks.they are graded on points 3 represents 300 points and whoever has the most points at the end of the month wins best handicapper for that month i think they get paid each month for winning.if you see a $ SIGN THATS HIS BEST BET OF THE MONTH I BELIEVE YOUR ALLOWED 2 OF THESE WAGERS PER MONTH THERE WORTH 500 POINTS.i might play a guys $ PICK IF HE IS LEADING IN PONTS IT GOOD TO WATCH THESE GUYS IF YOU SEE 2 OR 3 GUYS ALL OVER THE SAME GAME I RECOMEND PLAYING THAT PICK.FOR INSTANCE THE ALL LOVED MIAMI TONIGHT SO I PLAYED IT OTHERWISE YOU CAN PROBABLY PICK AS MANY WINNERS AS THEM.GOOD LUCK,BEANTOWNJIM

Jim, do you have the same problem with the message numbers at the top of the pager throwing off the rest of the mesage?
